How to remove pins from window connector

Recommended Posts

99 C2

My passenger window stopped functioning after doing the hidden garage door mod and installing the "Non-smoker" option. Apparently, the factory electrical tape surrounding the wire harness to the power windows unravelled at some pint and got tangled in the shifter. Now I have four broken wires at the power window switch connector.

Can anybody tell me how to remove the spade lugs? I've opened the latches on the connectors and tried pulling and pushing them out to no avail. Any help is appreciated.

It's a pain, and I am sure there is a special VW tool to do it with. I use

a combination of tiny (jewelers?) screwdrivers and needle nose pliers to depress

the detents and then slide the spade connectors out.

The reason why I say VW is because the connector housing probably has a

VW-Audi number on it. The housing costs 5$. Regrettably, I have not found the correct

replacement spade connectors to plug into them (as in a part #). If you find out, let us know.

Thanks FB - I was afraid of that... Do the lugs slide out the top or back through the bottom of the connector? It looks like it could go either way. It looks like I have something to do while the Turkey is in the oven tomorrow.

The female connector housings are available in white (999.650.109.40 Sunset Porsche $2.96)) or Black (999.650.035.40 Sunset Porsche $1.86). Don't ask me why 2 colors or why 2 prices, I don't know but I got both when I was adding heated seats to my car. The femal spades that fit inside are 999.650.330.00 and were $.46 at Sunset Porsche. So for less than five bucks plus shipping you could repalce the whole housing and female spades. You can also get them at your local dealer and because they are such low cost parts it may be more convenient.
