Engine compartment fan

Recommended Posts

I have a 2006 997 cab. The engine compartment fan is on most of the time- even when the weather is not that warm.

Just got the car back from the OPC they say that this is normal for a 2006.

Does anybody know different?

Thanks

I see that 56 of you have read my post.

It this normal or does your fan only come on when the engine is hot?

Any comments would be much appreciated

PGL -

Mine is on quite a lot... '06 C4S. Just about any time the ambient is over 20 degrees C and the oil temp is over 90C.

If your H20 temp stays at 80 degrees C, and the oil runs from 90-100, you're in the normal range as far as I can tell.

These cars do generate a lot of heat. That's a given.

Cheers,

-don

Mine is very rarely on( 997 S ) I can remember only once where it came on a few minutes after I put it into the garage .

Perhaps the thermostats which activate the fans have large operating ranges.

Anyway , I think it's better if it comes on more often than not often enough .

Maybe I need a different t-stat ?
