Just got a C2 (2000, UK) but the guy I got it from wasn't really clued up about all things Porsche. When I test drove it the coolant light was flashing, and i suggested he top up the levels.

I suspect he has just used water to top up.

I think I need to empty the tank and refill it with the proper coolant-to-water mix.

How hard and expensive is this - can I do it myself or should I get my Porsche specialist garage to do it?

Any links to a DIY?

Or am I worrying about nothing?

Thanks

James

Any chance my [00] cap is a good one? I have a '01 Boxster S with only 12,000 miles. I haven't had to top up the coolant yet since '01. Maybe 'cause it doesn't get out much. I suppose getting a good [01] cap will be on my dime? Still, better to be safe.... ;)

You may very well have a good cap. I still run the orginal 00 part with no leaks.

If it doesn't leak now - it will eventually. Porsche was supposed to change them on a next visit basis several years ago. A new cap is under $20.
