replace cd storage with open shelf

Recommended Posts

Please do not send me an email AND post here (twice). Just post on the site and someone will help you.

Make sure they are using 996 552 253 01 01C. It fits (only) in the top shelf position right below the radio.

So you should have two shelves in the area below the radio.

Sorry Loren,

I'll only post here.

They had me order a 996-552-243-01-01C, which is 1 digit different than your recommendation.

The only thing between the radio and the AC control unit is the cd storage unit. I would only have one shelf unless the unit you're referring to has 2 shelves built into it.

Thanks,

That explains why the dealer told me it wouldn't fit. They ordered the lower shelf & tried to fit it in the upper location. The lower shelf in your pic is where my AC control unit is located.

did you keep the CD storage unit? I may be interested in it to replace the .... wait for it... "cassette storage" in my recently purchased 1998 Row 996 Carrera

Hermann.

I replaced by cassette storage unit with an open tray from bumperplugs.com. More details with pics at

I also have the HVAC control in the bottom spot. A few years ago I got the upper shelf in leather, came from a Turbo and I got it on eBay for about $25, a great deal, much nicer than the plastic ones. Kind of rare to find a leather one but I am always watching eBay for this kind of stuff.
