  1. With a 2004 CTT, you may have aged vacuum lines that are leaking which can cause idle issues.
  2. I too have a 2003 CTT and have had my reservoir tank split at the seams every 90,000 km on average. If you haven’t replaced your reservoir tank yet, there is a good chance the reservoir is the source of your leak. The plastic coolant Ts were rupturing every 90,000 km as well. I’ve replaced the Ts with stainless hoping not to have them fail again. There is also the electric coolant pump for turbo oil cooling when engine is turned off that could possibly be leaking. It is situated in the wheel well. Mine has not leaked as yet.
  3. The transmission front seal is a common source for transmission fluid leaks. The seal can be damaged if leaking coolant fluid gets to the seal. Did you repair the transmission fluid leak from the chaffed pipe that you mention in your original post?
  4. Step 1. Repair the source of the leak. Step 2. Fill transmission to the correct fluid level. Step 3. Confirm no further fluid leaks evident post repairs. Step 4. Hope that the low fluid level condition has not damaged your transmission.
  5. In your case with the metal dummy key substitute, ops would be the same as if your using the Porsche remote security metal key, the cranking power coming from the rear battery. You need a plastic dummy key to have crank power from the front battery. I am assuming that the sensing of metal versus plastic inserted into the ignition slot is how the system differentiates between the keys and which battery crank source to use. Have you checked the electrolyte levels and measured the specific gravity of the cell batteries?
  6. Replace the the front battery initially as its 5 years of age. There is no battery registration feature on your Cayenne. Front and rear batteries are different capacities with the larger capacity in the front position. Do not swap battery positions. If your car is optioned with KESSY and you use the plastic dummy key to start the car, the front battery is used for cranking. If you don’t use the plastic dummy key, the cranking operation is via the rear battery.
  7. There is a fuse that controls both the SAI relays. Check out fuse F12 (5 amp) in the engine bay fuse box.
  8. Hold the odometer reset button on while turning on the key (you don't need to start the engine). The display will say Service Reset. Press the Reset button on the windshield wiper stalk. Reset complete!!!
  9. The transmission switching to 1st with PSM on and holding the low gears is normal when temps are cold on initial start. This is by design In order to rev the engine higher to warm the catalytic converters for efficient operation.
  10. Would be a good time to change out the plastic coolant tees to metal ones since you have access with the engine out.
  11. If your car has KESSY and a flat main battery, using the plastic dummy key will not start the vehicle. You must remove the plastic dummy key and use the fob with the metal key to start the car. With the metal key inserted the system will use the rear battery for starter operation.
  12. What is the purpose of the steering lock feature? Apart for theft protection, does it serve another role? What fault / conditions does the steering module monitor that will lockout the steering?
  13. I had both fuel pumps, fuel regulator and filter replaced as part of my preventative maintenance schedule at 170,000 km. The idle dip is still there. Replaced the engine mounts and transmission mount which removed the chassis shudder that was felt when the idle dipped.
  14. So was the damaged flex disk changed when you had the shaft replaced recently?
