  1. Look at the door striker and see if it has any unusual wear compared to the other side.
  2. Stage 1 ignitions are pretty normal results of hitting the rev limiter. We do not know for sure but we believe that since they are categorized as "ignitions" that for one engine revolution (in say 1 second) you would get 6 ignitions. Either way these are "safe" over revs because the rev limiter protected the engine. I would not worry about the number. Stage 2 ignitions are over revs the rev limiter can not protect against - such as a missed downshift. In some cases Porsche may deny warranty claims if there are many stage 2 over revs - as they are viewed as signs of abuse. i have seen cars with hundreds and thousands of stage 2 over revs. i certain would worry about 8.
  3. Have you checked your door striker latch to make sure it is not mis-aligned and moving the door position when closing?
  4. Did you have a look at the TSBs? There are couple related to door rattles.
  5. Try 8957 or 8955
  6. The car is a flat 6 cylinder - so the cylinders (and pistons) are horizontal. It is fairly normal to have a little oil leak by the rings when the engine is not running. Then when you start the engine it burns off the oil.
  7. Not if you buy from Sunset... I completed the replacement, but none of the buttons on that panel work now (including door locks). It's pretty sweet when things like this happen for no reason. Any suggestions? Are you sure everything is plugged in the right places and there are no blown fuses?
  8. Yes, there is a good chance there are more codes (not hidden - just more). If you notice all of you problem are on one side (bank) if the engine. This could be a an intake air leak on that side or bad adjusted camshaft control for that side. If the it is a badly adjusted camshaft control then the adaptation values in area 1 differ in bank 1 and bank 2 (e.g. TRA=0.02/TRA2=0.27). The adaptation values for area 2 are generally normal. If this is the case the camshaft control needs to be reset - then recheck the adaption values. 9. DO NOT try to take apart a MY02 or newer seat belt - there are pyrotechnic ball belt tensioners in these units. There is a great chance of injury if you try to take them apart. 1 Ball arrester 2 Tube with propellant charge 3 Gas pressure 4 Pistons 5 Pinion 6 Mass body (balls)
  10. have you tried Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost)? They sell just the heads for $88.45— $105.55 Loren, Excuse my ignorance regarding the keys but If I have a "chewed" head of my key can I simply buy a replacement head and do a swop? If so how does all the coding stuff work? Thanks RB Yes if the metal part of your key is fine you can just replace the head. It will need to be programmed by a dealer to match the alarm unit in your car. Any "good" dealer should the programming for $100 or less.
  11. I answered your PM (on the same subject).
  12. Have you checked with Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost)? Otherwise I think you need to look at a salvage yard...

  14. If it is the fan blast resister - then you cut the wires on the old one and solder or use watertight crimps when installing the new resister. Unless your coil packs are cracked or the electrical connectors are damaged (see the DIY) you should not need to replace anything else.
  15. :welcome: The 4 relays for the fans are all the same - you can swap them to verify that it is not a relay. If the relay change does not make a difference - then check the stage 2 part of the fan (turn the AC on). If the stage 2 (high speed) fan works - the problem is likely the fan ballast resister on that side. The spark plug DIY is here (you do not need to remove the read bumper).

  17. Sorry, guess I missed one... Try 9211 or 9209

  19. Those are correct - now you will need to choose the right shims ;)
  20. Try 1218 or 1216 Hi Loren, Both codes did not work. 1218 and 1216 Do you have any more suggestions? Thanks allott, Larry C Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  21. Are you trying to get more caster or more camber?
  22. Try 0562 or 0560
  23. CDR-23 radios are synch'ed to the car. So if you change radios you must re-synch it using a PST2 or PIWIS.
  24. :welcome: Many auto parts stores sell a pump that fits right on the end of the gear oil bottle that allows you to pump the contents into transmission.
  25. Yes, it appears that (a properly installed) 997 RMS seal seems to solve "most" RMS problems. The IMS seal fix is usually not a seal issue but a mounting bolts. It is unusual to have one of these leak again also. If both have been done on your car and there is no sign of further leaks - then I would leave them alone.
