  1. Issue was with heatercore replaced it with one from eBay and that resolved vacuum leak issue Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Yep, replaced heater core found decent instructions online . The old one did show signs of coolant leak . Thanks to airlift Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks @Ahsai Checked fuses and found two connectors that were not connected back at the windshield vipers connected them back. And checked batter voltage that was very low (8v). I am not sure what happened. So I tried to charge but wouldn't charge much so disconnected ground and recharged it overnight. And connected battery terminals in the morning and the car started. Drove to work this morning, so far good.
  4. Hi All, I am finally done replacing radiator fans and heater core. And then tried to start my 986 base and I got several message on the dash and the car does not crank. - Failure Oil Level Indicator - PSM failure Indicator -Airbag Failure so I thought the batter is low and charged it overnight and tried again this morning. Same thing. Any ideas. the car was in running condition prior to this job. Any ideas where some thing would have gone wrong.?
  5. They didn't respond, and I didn't bother to followup. At present I have other problems that I am dealing with, for now I don't lock the car!.
  6. Thanks JFP. Found the vacuum leak, when I not connect the heater core pipes (2 metal pipes) under the rear passenger side wheel, I don't see vacuum drop. I had to plug hose from engine and return to split hose to isolate that line. So I am chasing the the heater core, I just posted a new issue for that.
  7. Hi Guys, I finally narrowed my vacuum leak on my coolant system to heater core pipes. When I isolated heater core pipes near the split hose under rear passenger side, I could see vacuum holds at 25psi. So I am suspecting a hole or a hose leak at the heater core. I know heater core is under the battery, but wondering how to get to the heater core. Bentley manual does not cover this topic. Any help with instructions are appreciated.   8. Thanks JFP. I just updated the picture with one more hose #6 from the bottom of the tank, And here is the updated list. #1: Engine Oil #2: Drain #3: Oil cooler (engine coolant vent) #4: radiators vents? #5: Level #6: Pump

  10. Hi guys i removed radiators to clean and found both have oil stains on the one side (outer side) is this normal for a 116k and 14 years old vehicle ? Is there way to pressure test these radiator on the bench ?
  11. Folks, I am trying to document my learning thru different posts on this forum to demystify cooling system in Boxster 986. 1. Engine Oil 2. Drain pipe that is open on the other end and can be found above the rear right wheel 3. Vent or Bleeder - I see there two vents coming from the radiators and from the diagram there should be another bleeder from the Engine. These are joined some where under the body and one pipe gets to the expansion tank. 4. Coolant pipe goes to Engine 5. pressure cap ? will in open on excess pressure ?
  12. Is driver side radiator the Left one or Right one ? why I am looking to buy I found the description as left side radiator or right side radiator.
  13. Hi Guys I suspect a pinhole on the driver side radiator, so I wanted to dismount the radiator and inspect it. My problem is I don't know how to remove the two clips (see the picture) without breaking them. Any ideas ? - Driver Side Radiator - IS this called left side radiator or right side radiator ? Does any one has a part number for this ? - I found a radiator on rockauto for under 200 bucks
  14. Thank you JFP. slowly pray the bottom part out and replaced both the o-rings.
  15. Replaced bleeder o-rings and tested vacuuming again up to 20psi. And it started to leak vacuum and I could hear water making noise inside the pipes. I kind of traced that noise to LH radiator hose. I suspect the LH radiator has a minor leak, that did not show up when pressure tested. So to confirm my assumption I am trying to seal off the radiator hoses at the LH radiator and try to see if it retains the vacuum. Is there a better idea ?
  16. Hi Guys I thought of changing the o-rings in coolant bleeder and order two o-rings small and large. But once I removed all the 8 bolts around the bleeder I got the cap our but I don't see where the o-rings go. I even doubted if I my Boxster has the o-ring type of bleeder. Attached are the pictures please help me get to those old o-rings if at all they exists in my car.
  17. Contacted sunsetimports hoping to get some $$$ estimate for the new key.
  18. Jump the relay and force the fan to run. Today I checked my relays by jumping all the 4 and Left fan does not run in low speed. I have a ballast resistor issue, need to replace.   19. Hi My 02 Boxster does not have electronics in it. So I have been locking and unlocking the car manually. Is there a way I can replace the elctronics inside key or buy a new key that matches with the Car. Please point me in right direction.
  20. Replacing fuse behind the radio and DSP audio fuse in the fuse box fixed my issue.
  21. I purchase Airlift form Amazon (~$135) and tried on my 02 boxster but it was not holding the vacuum. So I called a tech he came with pressure tester and tested with 1.3 bar and that was holding. So he said not to pay too much emphasis on the vacuum. I had noticed mine getting heating up as well ~close to 200. So cleaned the radiators yesterday. I air lock as the culprit. I feel that burping is not enough. I was going over the Bentley manual they have couple of steps that I did't to like rev at 2500 for 5 mins and rev at 5000 for 5 mins. etc.. Which I didn't do it. Now I am back to square one.
