  1. They look quite nice...how about a photo catching a bit more of the car so we can see the whole picture. Also, some detail on how you painted, decal application and so forth. What's important is that you are pleased with the job; there will always be skeptics. I like the new wheels, as well. I have Carrera Classics on my Boxster. I feel they are a great improvement over the twist wheels.
  2. Interesting...was this a recent re-design? I purchased a Mann filter for my S last November for its winter oil change. Mine was still the older design with the paper ribs extending the full length. Advantages of the new design?
  3. Received my one-touch top device yesterday...thanks John! Unfortunately, the car won't see the mod until spring when the weather warms up. Other than a big snow storm in early December, northern Chicago suburbs have experienced a mild winter; still too much salt on the roads, though.
  4. Thanks again John for your efforts. PayPal was sent today. Unfortunately, my Boxster won't see daylight until spring. Jerry
  5. As is the usual case, it's the nut behind the wheel that causes most the problems. Learn to follow directions.
  6. As folthoff said, a K&N will not harm the car if installed and oiled properly (I've been using them for years on my 911s). I didn't know about re-setting the ECU, but had an interesting experience after installing my EVO High Flow with K&N filter. The car ran perfectly until I pulled up to a stop light after a fairly lengthy highway drive. The car idled miserably for about 15 seconds, the CEL came on; then the car corrected the idle and the light went off. Never have had a problem since (in more than 8 months). I can only assume the ECU "figured it out" and made adjustments. I check for fault codes, but there were none stored. BTW, the car is an'02 S.
  7. I have the Evo High Flow on my '02 Boxster S...it is worth every penny for the sound alone. What howl under hard acceleration!
  8. Looks very nice! Where did you purchase the leather and what type of adhesive did you use to attach it to the piece? I'd be interested in doing my door pocket covers in leather.
  9. John, I've watched your post with interest and now the video. I compliment your ability to devise such an item and would like to be placed on the list as a buyer. The functionality is great, however, I could not justify the "Smart Top" solution cost. Also, raising or lowering the top while moving is of no interest to me. Please let me know what I need to do to purchase your solution. I can be contacted at: jgmatta@msn.com PM sent, as well.
  10. I installed the PNP kit in my '02. The instructions specifically state to run the wire harness into the back of the stereo unit. Mine sounds just fine when I use it...which is only when my 16 yo rides with me.
  11. The parts necessary to move the dash components around are as follows: A. Move climate control to upper position: 2 adapters 996 573 501 00 trim 996 552 677 00 B. Upper storage bin 996 552 253 01 C. Lower storage bin 996 552 243 01 Remove cupholders and cd storage tray, sell on eBay for big $. The rest is just moving the wiring harness around; it all works.
  12. Yes, I'll dig them out of my file. All components are available from Pelican or your favorite dealer.
  13. I rarely use the stereo in the car; seems like only when my 16 yr old son is with me. It was the first thing to go when I bought my '73 911. The car makes sweet music for me!
  14. I was tired of the "standard" layout of the center dash; i.e. climate control, radio and bins. The cupholders and cd storage were a waste of space and I needed more storage bins. After accumulating the necessary components, I went to work to re-arrange the dash. Porsche did a very nice job of making this area modular so you can move things around as you wish. I must admit, I've never seen anyone put the radio in this position and I think it works very well. Interested in your feedback.
  15. Old Chuck, I'm not that much younger than you and drive a long nose 911 for track purpose. However, I bought a Boxster S this past spring for a weekend fun car. I could have bought many other cars, but the Boxster is very special. I've driven Corvettes on the track on many occasions; they feel big and vague (the exception is the new Z06). The Bimmer is fun to "man-handle" (read drift), but nothing compares to the Boxster. Plain and simple, it just does everything better than the competition IMHO. Take that next test drive at the local P-Car dealer; you won't regret it, as I think you may with your other choices.
  16. This article really hits home. I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee day after day. My '73 911 sees track use almost exclusively. Something was missing. Last spring, I bought a mint '02 Boxster S for those weekend drives and trips to Wisconsin. The circle is complete. My good friend, who has wanted a Boxster for years drove mine and decided now was the time. We found him an '02 as well in condition similar to mine. Now, he finds reasons to drive on weekends for nothing more than the pure pleasure of it.
  17. Looks like the B&M I installed in my '02 S. Is this a Chinese knock-off or what?
  18. 2002 S; same here. I actually appreciate that they don't go all the way up, because I'd lower them anyway.
  19. I have a B&M in my '02 S; great feel and considerable improvement over stock. My friend's stock S feels so long and vague compared to mine. And yes, the shifter stands nice and straight in neutral.
  20. You might also check out this Dansk on the Pelica board...close out special. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread....threadid=302920
  21. This german company produces a great option. They take a factory muffler and add simple bypass pipes to create an aggressive, but not loud sound. I have the 3.2 S version on my '02 and I really like the sound. It has a mello, deep sound with zero resonance and ceratinly is not raspy. This is a great mod because the part is OEM and the price is very competitive. http://cgi.ebay.com/Porsche-Boxster-986-2-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  22. Is it me or does the Zeintec Boxster have the little controversial "winglet". I think so...
  23. Pelican Parts is offering a Dansk Sport exhaust for under $500...this is the same unit Fabspeed offers for much more. I had one of these on order for two and a half months, then finally bought the german modified one from Alex911s. Go to the Pelican 986 board and you will find the link. No personal interest; just thought somebody would appreciate a good deal.
  24. Next time I drive 150 mph+ down I-94, I'll be certain to invite a Porsche aerodynamicist to ride with me so that he can advise the impact an aftermarker spoiler has on my car's balance. Until then, I will drive at safe highway speeds and leave my high speed work to Road America in my 911 (which by the way has a ducktail, which we all know is not as efficient as the larger, more modern spoilers). All in jest...
  25. Here's a couple more of my dusty car...the sun angle was brutal, so they're not the best, but it gives you an idea. One more...
