  1. What is the part number for a storage bin that would replace the CD holder (above the AC controls in my '04 C4S)? I thought I saw this posted recently, but I can't find it. I have the natural gray interior, if that makes a difference.
  2. Are the RE 750s N rated (approved by Porsche)? I have them on my BMW 540, and I like them.
  3. If you have the coupe, your sub will be on the back deck; if you have the cab, it's in the footwell. You can make some improvements w/o replacing everything. The Bose speakers are not very good; just putting some better speakers in helps a lot. The Bose speakers are 2 ohm for front, door and rear, and 1 ohm for the subs. The Bose amp will run 4 ohm speakers just fine, but you need fairly efficient speakers as you are only going to get about 25 watts per channel. Focals seem pretty popular; I used Infinity Kappas. If you want to hear bass on the highway, you will also need to add an amp for the subs. This won't get you the same quality as putting in an entirely new system, but it sounds a lot better than the stock system and maintains the interface with the OBC and instrument display.
  4. I've been mixing the 100 and 91 to get up to or above the recommended 93 minimum. I'm not sure if I could tell the difference, but I figure I might as well follow the manufacturer's recommendation.
  5. Looks like very nice stuff, but I think it contrasts too dramatically with the light gray interior.
  6. I started to pull out the rear seat backs and rear side trim panels yesterday, and had a couple of questions. (this is a '04 C4S coupe) I removed the bolt in between the seats, expecting that I could then remove the seat backs by simply pulling them out. However, that didn't seem to work. It felt like there was a rod that went all the way through both seats, and I was reluctant to bend it much. Is there a bolt or something on the sides that also needs to be removed as well? If so, where is it? Similar question on the rear side trim panels. I removed the seat peg, pulled up from the bottom, and the trim panel seemed to be mostly free, but still attached at the top below the window. I expected it to pop out, but whatever was holding at the top was stronger than the force I wanted to exert. Is there something else that needs to be removed, or do I just need to pull harder?
  7. If tht doesn't work, let me know. I think I have still have the instructions in the bag with the the small hardware pieces for my rack.
  8. I have an extra gloss black button if someone needs it (my buttons are matte and I initially ordered the wrong one).
  9. I used a torx L-key (http://www.altex.com/product_info.php?cPath=23_27_123&products_id=987).
  10. Suncoast Porsche has them on sale for $24.95. I'm putting mine on tomorrow. : )
  11. Anything magic about removing a tiptronic shift knob? I don't see any set screws. I did see a message indicating that the manual shift knob just pulls off; is that true for the tip shift knob as well? (adding a little more carbon to the interior)
  12. The DSP is built into the amp, and there is no abilty to make any adjustments to the DSP settings. The amp is o.k., but not anything special.
  13. What year is your C2? if it is 2002 or earlier, you have a lot of upgrade options. If it's 2003 or later, the choices are pretty limited because the head unit and amp are tied into the MOST bus. In either case, you can upgrade the speakers. For older systems, you can also upgrade the head unit and/or amp. I think most people will tell you that switching to the Bose is not the best option. I have the Bose and I have swapped out all of the speakers for better quality speakers.
  14. Can anyone give me directions on how to remove the amp that powers the woofers in the Bose bass enclosure in a C4S coupe? I'm guessing that it is located under the deck that the bass enclosure sits on, but I'm reluctant to start taking that apart without some directions or guidance. I'd like to try to swap it out for something with a bit more power. Just to be clear, I am not refering to the main amp, which sits in the spare tire well under the trunk.
  15. I can't say for sure, but I think most other GPS systems work in both the US and Europe. I have a handheld that I've used in the US, Ireland, Belgium, UK and Mexico (w/ appropriate maps). I can't think of any reason that it wouldn't.
  16. Can someone tell me how to remove the Bose bass enclosure from a C4S coupe? I don't see any obvious screws. There are some "slots" at the back, but they don't seem to be hinged and I couldn't see inside to idetify any connectors. I'm probably over-looking something simple, but I don't want to damage anything.
  17. If you are asking if the speaker grills can be removed from the outside without removing at least part of the panel, I think the answer is no. You do not have to remove the panel entirely, however. I swapped the speakers out recently, and was able to do it without taking the panel all of the way off; I left the clips in place along the top, and just let the panel swing out far enough to get access to the speaker area. That way, you don't have to mess around with the latch mecahnism or do anything around the air bag. You do have to take off the outer part of the door handle and remove the bolts that hold the panel in place, and also pop the door clips at the bottom and on the sides. BTW, the speaker grills are not actually attached to the speakers; they are part of the door panel and just cover the general area. (My comments based on '04 C4S w/ Bose option).
  18. My understanding is that the main amp powers the front, door and rear speakers, and that there is a line level output to the bass enclosure, which has it's own amp. One possibility is that the connection to the bass enclosure didn't get seated properly. The amplifier firmware was also updated at the end of '03. One comment I read said that one of the changes was to make the bass "less boomy," so I guess it's possible that it's just a difference between the opld amp and the new amp. Since you are getting the high/mid sound, it doesn't sound like there's an issue with the HU or amp being coded properly.
  19. Looks pretty good. And the one on the far left even looks like my phone . . . .
  20. Do you have any poiters to the newsletter or other sources? I can't find any info about it, although I did see that TechArt announced a phone solution for the Cayenne which may be the same thing.
