  1. Have you changed your Cam position sensor? The traffic light failure to start and then start sound similar to those symptoms. Usually the cam position sensor starts getting flaky causing failure to run and then after some time (short or long dependent on temp) it will start fine. Just an idea....
  2. Perhaps your cab drains are blocked at water is getting to the electronics under the drivers seat? Check for water under the carpet in the rear foot wells.
  3. Perhaps your cab drains are blocked at water is getting to the electronics under the drivers seat? Check for water under the carpet in the rear foot wells.
  4. I looked this up in the manual and it seems that on the Cab you have to remove part of the top lifting mechanism to get to the lifter. I'm concerned I'll screw up the top some how and the manual seems to claim the need for some 'porsche special tools' for some of the adjusters. The only good news is that the procedure seems to be the same for 2005+.. Has anyone tried this on a Cab post 2005?
  5. My 2009 997-2 4S has a failure on its rear passenger window yesterday. I was closing the cabriolet top and something went bang over by the rear passenger window and then as it moved I heard plastic falling off inside the mechanism. Now alas the mechanism will only go down, so its stuck fully down. Over the holiday weekend, I plan on taking off the side trim panelling to see what the problem is, but if anyone has any pointers I'd appreciate them. I've not heard of the rear window going on a 996 or 997 before, but expect they are fairly similar. Typical that it breaks just before the holidays.. :-( Dammad.
  6. I've had my 2009 C4S cab with PDK for 10k miles so now have 66k on it. I also drive mine daily. So far the only issues have been: - high pressure fuel pump - previous owner as part of the porsche replacement program - oil level sensor. Easy fix. - water pump at 56k I need to get the software upgrade for the PCM too but haven't done so yet.
  7. I had a similar noise on my 2009 C4s and it was the water pump too. Alas water pumps don't last long even on the 9A1 engine.
  8. Yeah I appreciate the 'value' but was referring to the cost for a bit of metal and a magnetic. But it is certainly worth it. Good to hear the LN version fits so I'll get one of those.
  9. Has anyone determined the depth for the drain plug. I'm about to change my oil (2009 C4S) and would like to get a magnetic drain plug. I see that LN Engineering has one, but its ridiculously expensive and longer than the standard. If somebody has experience either with the LN plug or a 3rd party that fits that would be great.
  10. ColeOlsen, Did you find out any more about this? I'd be interested in this update too. I've the rain sensor, but not the auto dim mirror.
  11. I'm on the same page as you. This year I brought my 2009 4s cab and love it. Like you I've read around about small concerns with the 2009 but overall the concerns seem small compared to other models. I love mine to drive although the PDK can be a bit jerky at slow speeds. I've read that newer firmware in the PDK can help but I've not managed to get the dealer to upgrade it. I too worry about DFI deposits. I wonder if something like Seafoam occasionally might prevent that but I've not seen anything to confirm. I say it's a keeper but make sure to drive it like you stole it.
  12. You'll pretty much only be able to get a replacement since so few places fix things these days. Probably better to get a modern unit from kenwood/alpine and a factory look surround. If you want to maintain a complete factory look you might be able to get a equivalent on eBay and have porsche program it.
  13. Sounds very much like an poor connection to the screen internally by the last screen shot seems to imply communication problems on the MOST bus since there are exclamation marks everywhere. Perhaps two different problems.
  14. Mine has 156k miles, but I've been changing the oil regularly with Mobil1 0w30 so believe wear should be a minimum. Don't believe I've any scoring, but will have them look into one of the cylinders for more information.
  15. Thanks! Has anyone heard of low compression on all cylinders?!? Seems very strange to me given the car ran fine up to the intermix.
  16. After a very busy beginning of the year, I got the car looked at last week. The shop (Don's Autowerks) reports that I've low compression on *all* cylinders. Starting from Cylinder #1-6: 155, 155, 150, 175, 170, 165, when it should be 210+. While the head might be cracked, but I would have thought it would only effect 1 or 2 cylinders. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm west coast based, so LN Engineering is a long way away. Does anyone know of a shop on the West coast that fixes these? Or a source for cheap engine replacements?
  17. Is there a way (fuse or something similar) to stop a person with the car key from opening the Luggage Compartment? I only have one key for the car and no valet key, but would like to protect valuables when dropping it off with valets and the like. I've looked over the fuse box, but there doesn't seem to be a fuse on my 09 997.2 4S for the luggage compartment locking. Thanks for any suggestions.
  18. Alas I didn't put together a DIY. If you are comfortable disconnecting the engine carrier and supporting the engine then I would say it is DIY. If not take it to your local independent.
  19. For the original poster. It is possible the firmware is corrupt. You might check the version and see if you can do an upgrade.
  20. I think you need to get the codes read for the PDK. Sounds like it is slipping between changes. Mine doesn't change that way. A PIWIS is best for codes but a durametric will give you codes also.
