  1. There are 2 horns, 1 hi and 1 low. Are you sure if they worked both, or only one? In this case it's possible that both horns are faulty. Look at the connectors for 12 V supply, if yes replace both horns ( they are located behind the bumper shell on the R.H. - dismount the shell to replace. ) Succes
  2. You have to build out the canister on ROW types, I'm not sure for US types. ( Clickman and Chuck )
  3. The remote stops working after approx. 5 days of inactivity, trey this: open the door with the key-push the key in the ignition switch-turn contact on, at the same time push on the button of the remote to recognise the system ( announcement )-pull the key out and trey to lock the door by the remote. If it doesnt work, there is a good change that the remote is faulty and most by replaced in a O.P.C. to programmed.
  4. Notice that a ROW type, before starting a alignment, the fuel tank most by top pet up to FULL. This is for 90% a forgotten item.
  5. In my opinion, the factory manual cant show a non existent item.
  6. All you have to do is buy a new button, the old one is probably used on the notch. It is a frequent occurrence.
  7. All 997 and 987 have the emergency release ( front and rear ) on the opposite side - 996 and 986, to keep it simple!
  8. Hi The GPS antenna is located above the cabin air filter, on a metal plate. You have to dismount the wiper arms and the black plastic finish plate, the metal plate with the antennas ( two antennas if a telephone is installed ) is bold on the plastic plate. I don't no if the OEM antenna is compatible with Pioneer. I hope this can help. Regards.
  9. It is unnecessary to change the coolant, all you have to do is top up the expan.tank with a mix from water and the original coolant. The coolant changed from green to red approx. one year.
  10. Hi The low beam and high beam are not adjustable separately, there most by a problem inside the unit.
  11. Hi I' m not sure, but i don't think so. You need a new wiring, control unit, sensors, antennas and a lot of labour.
  12. It is not so simple as that, the D.M.E. programmation depend on the numbers upon the cats.
  13. Porsche use " SuperSyn " 0W-40 in Europe, i never seen European Car Formula. A marketing item for the U.S.A. ???
  14. The switch on the brake pedal is also a possibility, he have a double function - activate the brake lights and start interruption.
  15. Hi It looks like the tiptronic switch upon the gearbox is faulty, the D.M.E. control box think that a gear is engaged and refused too start the engine. Problems with the key transponder are infrequent.
  16. Hi Is this really oil? It looks like engine protector too my, if you have an oil leak on the cam covers, it drip upon the exh.collector before contacting the floor. The exhaust collector looks verry clean too my.
  17. In this case it is possible that one of the cooling fans get stuck, but this gave nothing to do with your problem. I advice you to visit a Porsche workshop or a good independent.
  18. The pump is in the fuel tank, under the battery. A faulty fuel pump can produce a high squeal.
  19. The pump-the -pedal technique is a 2 man job for a good result, bleeding the hydraulic system with a machine is a 1 man job. For older types 4 wheel drive Porsche's ( 964-993 ) is a machine recommended + PST2 to bleed the entire system.
  20. The remote stops working after 4 or 5 days of inactivity, open the door with the key, push the key in the ignition switch and turn to the contact position while pushing on the opening button of the remote. If the system refuge to work, replace the remote. This is a PIWIS job. There is a fuse in the alarm control box under the driver seat but troubles with the fuse are rather infrequent.
  21. Hi The electric part of the switch is replaceable separately. I have no idea what cons urn the Audi switch. The part number is not necessary, 986 and 996 are all the same.
  22. Hi I never heard a TPMS sensor beeping. There is a battery inside, when new approx. 80 months, they give a signal to the antenna inside the wheel arch. If the battery is to low or the sensor is faulty-broken, you got a message on the dash. If you install a new sensor it is much easier to put-in the new code with a PIWIS, it can take a long period of driving before the system is learning by himself, sometimes even not.
