  1. This member had almost the same problem...For your info vario cam....
  2. Got it Wross!!! Some people mix half lucas power steering stop leak and half pentosin..... See post from Gearhead and Delta..... Stop leak...
  3. No Durametric will only erase the message and you will get the spoiler function back until the next failure... The only way is to see what happen, on the right ram you got the switch assembly and you can see if it is contacting or not if you remove the small plastic cap. Look at "wross996TT" post with the picture of this unit....
  4. I've read somewhere,(may be on 6speed), two members use ticker oil and fix the problem of leaking. Right now , I think your spoiler did not deploy completely because of missing fluid and the switch give you a fault because not contacting in full extend position. You need, first to fix the leak, and after refill and bleed the system.... This problem is well known and many people got no other solution than replacing the faulty units.... Also I read somewhere that you can buy only the rams..... To save money I suggest to do some research in both forum Renntech and 6speed. Good luck, J.P.
  5. - Thanks you all for your suggestions and comments. I got a Durametric and really satisfied with it, but I was just curious about this cheap way of accessing a very limited and sophisticated tool.... Thanks again, J.P.
  6. Sorry , just found my own answer in the DIY section. Thanks!
  7. I remember reading something similar and finally found it on 6speed mooing sound...
  8. I saw lately a "Piwis" software for laptop and usb cable for sale for $100.00. Do I have more function than Durametric ??? Anyone tried it? PIWIS...
  9. Just did my oil change before winter and found out that I got the wrong seal for the crankcase drain plug. Can you help me and give me the right part#. Thanks a lot, J.P. Is it item #16= 900 123 118 30
  10. The oil pressure switch is something that seems to fail often. It is only about $60.00 part# 996 606 203 00. The location is behind the oil filter and it is not easy to reach but can be done. To get more access you can always lower the engine about 2 to 4 inches see note below....
  11. Take a look at the temp sensor located close to the steering reservoir to the right of it and a little bit aft of the air pump on a small bracket. Look at the wiring condition and plug.
  12. Are you talking about the small leaf spring, item # 6 on this picture part# 99620141301 (about $4.00) for the installation of this part... Pry it open and clip it in place....
  13. Oups...I am sorry Wross. Please excuse me, I went to fast and did not see your link..... That pics was on my computer since may 27 2008....
  14. From the book "Porsche 996 Essential companion I can give you the complete Porsche production which is: Cabriolet turbo: 308, Coupe turbo:4322, GT2: 233. And for north america look at this picture I got from ??? cannot remember....
  15. I am amazed!!!!!!! It cost me only $1500.00 (parts only) to do all four brakes (steel) including pads on my TT .... There is a PCCB set for sale on Ebay for a GT3 GT3 PCCB
  16. I was able to stop the leak at the oil cap by cranking the engine just a little bit (just a touch of starter) until, I guess, all the intake valves were closed....
  17. Many people replace the diverter valves that way, me included. I was worried the first time but checked everywhere and nothing is under stress or binding....
  18. Almost time to winterize my car. After doing only about 3000 miles this summer, should I do an oil and filter change before storage. Thanks for your opinion, J.P.
  19. Do yourself a favor and lower the engine next time you work in that area...It is so simple and give you so much space to properly work in what was a tight spot! See this discussion....Lowering the engine
  20. I saw a turbo with these seals leaking. It is difficult to see but the location is on top of the engine aft section.
