  1. Thank you for the quick response Any idea what could bring the trans to go into "limp mode" ?
  2. Hello Guys, Very unpleasant experiance this morning. Coasting on the expressway for about 45 min and out of the blue at 75 mph i press the gas and there is no response. I pull over and shut the car off, turn it back on and nothing, its like the car is in neutral I tried it in manual mode and still nothing. AAA is towing it to my mechanic - but im still freaking out. Any ideas ? Thank you
  3. i did my own . Now let me tell you. if you can have independent shop do it for you for less than 600 go for it. It is a very frustrating DIY , took me 4 hours with a helper
  4. the miles on the vehicle is a big factor on the trade value. At the auto dealers auctions throughout the country 00 boxsters with around 50k go for 13,500 while in good but not excellent shape.
  5. It is def the tensioner spring.... Thank you.
  6. New issue this morning. My inner door handle doesnt jump back to place after i close the door, the window doesnt close all the way up after i close it. i can push the handle up and it will close the window but the handle is really loose. Is this a DIY fix, or do i need to replace something??
  7. as a automotive professional i would take it to a body shop and have them fix it. not more than $400 or so. you might need to replace that black lip at the bottom , not so sure by the pic
  8. try to find on line the specs of the antifreeze you are using and see if it matches porsche specs.
  9. I work at a used car dealership.... i can tell you that something smells bad. We dont put a car on the street if we cant do it...... that car was stocked in at carmaxs inventory and in my opinion was undersold to you. If i was in your situation i will not drive the car back to carmax! they should bite the bullet and offer compensation to the previous owner if their story is true! its your car now. good luck
  10. Ok so i have been having reoccurring P1128 and P1130 as well. I did the AOS about 1k miles ago. My idle is not rock solid as i would like it to be but it is right between the 6-8 marks. Also the cars at times will slightly shake at idle....im not sure if its a problem , or do i need to reset my DME after the AOS install. it takes 2 days for the CEL to come after reset.
  11. could be as small as a worn boushing or as big as a strut.... any trust worthy mechanic could spot it for you.
  12. www.car-parts.com the best site for junk yards
  13. P1710 - Speed signal P1715 - Front right/ Front left. Fault effect No manual Program Upshifting is not prevented during braking. No downshifting during braking. Substitute value for transverse acceleration. You need a PST2 to see if ABS is shooting anything back. Or check wiring from tiptronic control module connector to the ABS/TC control module . The fact that this is not a consistent issue with your car i would assume that this has to do with the wires. Good luck
  14. Thanassis, Not directly to your problem but If your car is currently at Loeber Motors i would understand why you are frustrated. I was there a few times and got a really bad impression. If you want to get a good service i would recommend Perfectpowerinc.com , i got this contact information from the guys with Porsche Club association in our district. They tune porsches for races as well as repair them, they were very highly recommended. Good Luck. p.s. i hope you didnt have to pick up the bill now that they caused more issues with the car.
  15. Finally found the time to look into this one. I had a CEL for Camshaft position sensor on Bank 1. I Had the AOS recently replaced and i thought there might be a connection. The Plug going to the sensor was Not connected properly and with a long screw driver i pushed it a bit till it clicked. So far no CEL - 1 mile test drive that previously was enough to trigger the CEL. My question is - will a unplugged Camshaft position sensor cause a less than best performance??? and why?? After i fixed it seemed to run a little bit better. (im wondering if i might be illusioning myself :) ) thanks
  16. Its been a while now that i cant figure this one out. when putting the gear selector in park on a 00 automatic. The gear indicator will blink "R" I can shut the car off , but cant turn it on (unless in neutral). It will only engage parking if I jiggle the selector until a click sound will sound or if i move the selector to park while pressing lightly on the locking button and then hear a click sound. What is more likely - Low ATF or shiftlock cable needs to be adjusted????
  17. after a day of driving . symptoms did not re occur ..... no leaks as of now. the cap seems to be just fine. if anything changes i will update.
  18. The resovouir tank? Or the expansion tank? Is there a write-up on replacing this somewhere? They are both the same thing. The tank in the back trunk..... look at the picture
  19. I finished yesterday to remove and replace my cracked coolant tank. The process was not the easiest but it was completed. so i drove the car last night and all seemed good but today when i got to work the coolant was leaking fast from the CAP. (01 revision) So i let it cool, The tank ended up empty after it cooled down. So i removed carpet and clean all area, filled in the tank with coolant half way and started the car..... the temp light still blinking..... i checked the sensor at the bottom of the tank and it had some coolant at the wires where the plug is (could this cause the blinking temp light??) also i didnt bleed the system yesterday .... is this what caused the cap leak, or is this a faulty cap?? Thank you guys.
  20. at the bottom of the expansion tank there is a sensor .... if that little sensor is faulty or perhaps the wiring.....it might trigger the blinking
  21. in case its a problem to keep this image up.....here is a direct link to it http://i6.tinypic.com/14vtm4x.jpg
  22. You should get the workshop and OBDII manuals. here is excerpt for education purposes. for P0343 This is very helpful. Thank you very much. I just need to know where the sensor is located :)
