  1. See if these help. Some of the part numbers, may be superseded, but will give you a starting point. What I found after removing and replacing some are that they have a corresponding VW part number and are quite a bit cheaper if you buy the VW instead of Porsche...or at least that's how I found it several years ago when I worked on them.   2. My rear air struts are at "Special Terrain Level" height and the fronts have completely depressurized. I'm getting ready to begin work on the system and would like to depressurize the rear struts. Can the Durametric bleed the air struts like the Porsche tool? Is there an easier (or safer) way than breaking loose the air lines at the valve block by the compressor?
  3. Did you ever fix this? I've got the same issue and wondering what the solution is.
  4. I just replaced the center vent in my '03 CTT and there are what are called "blowing out sensors" in the center vent. I had already bought the part because the plastic dividers were broken, but before I replaced it, I started getting different temperature air from the left and right sides when the L/R temp settings were identical. The problem resolved itself with the center vent replacement, so I assume it actually had a bad sensor. The best piece of advice I can give for the overall "Cayenne Experience" is to buy a Porsche Service Manual online. They're all over the internet anywhere from free to about $15 for the PDF download. Best investment I made related to home repair and troubleshooting. The attached wiring diagram is from the 'WIRING' section which is 100+ wiring diagrams. The one I have is 60+ separate files totaling thousands of pages. Good luck!
  5. Check your flex disc first. I have an '03 CTT and what my late mother called a "leadfoot". I've replaced the cardan shaft/bearing assembly twice and recently thought it had gone again. Turned out to be the flex disc which had been replaced both times, but failed with only a few thousand miles on it.
  6. It turns out, the actual sensor itself isn't bad, one of the bushings of the ball and socket connector is completely gone.
  7. Getting the "Air Suspension Faulty Workshop" error message; scanned with Durametric and am getting Code 1769 - Vehicle level sensor front right and actual value is 0V where the other three are 2.4V. Fault comes back as soon as it's clear, so I'm thinking it's bad. I believe the correct part number is 955-341-076-21. What is involved in the calibration of a level sensor? Can it be done with a Durametric? As always, thanks in advance for any help.
  8. My '03 turbo with 165k miles doesn't smoke when running and doesn't use any more oil than spec. After I've been driving short distances around town, I'm in the neighborhood slowing to nearly a stop to make a turn after a couple of minutes of cruising 1800-2000 RPM in 3rd gear. All of a sudden white smoke pours out the exhaust; I'm not sure if it's one or both, but seems like more likely it's both. Anyone seen anything similar?
  9. I replaced that connector a few years ago, the seal was leaking so i was getting gas fumes in the interior and the gas had eroded the soft rubber. Make sure you've got a good pin removal tool and you should be in business.
  10. FIXED! I had to take it to my mechanic and he was puzzled after both batteries tested fine and removing the starter and it bench tested fine. Ultimately, he cleaned and tightened the power connection at the starter and the connection at the power distribution box and this fixed the problem. There was some corrosion on the starter connection and this connection came from the factory without a lock washer and wasn't completely tight. It did last 17 years, though.
  11. I got in my '03 CTT this morning and it would not start. I put the key in, got the normal lights and sounds and the starter wouldn't turn over at all. I can hear what I assume are the battery relays. Both batteries are fairly new, but I charged anyway, same result; tried to jump start, same result. I drove the car yesterday and no issues. The starter has been working perfectly, no dragging, or slow starts at all. Does this sound like the starter? Has anyone had the starter go bad suddenly with no prior warning? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I have it towed to the shop.

  13. Cayennes are notorious for grounding (earthing) issues. They also are notorious for the sunroof drains becoming blocked and causing leaks under the carpet where there are wiring harnesses. Good luck!
  14. Check your battery first. Bad batteries cause all kinds of issues in Cayennes, especially the early years. I have an '03 TT and just replaced a battery that was less than 3 years old. The car was throwing the PSM failure code plus several other faults. Replaced battery, cleared all faults and just fine now. Ground issues also cause problems.
  15. Thanks for the post cfiiman & Loren! I'm getting ready to do this to my '03 TT, so I may go ahead and order this hose and replace it. By the way, the "7L.." number is most likely a VW part#. Lot's of shared parts between the Cayennes and Touaregs and Audi SUVs
  16. That's a sunroof leak. Your passenger side A-pillar tube is blocked and the water backs up and runs down inside the A-pillar. The easiest way to clear the blockage is to blow the line with an air compressor and check them every few months. Best to also remove the passenger seat bracket so you can get every thing dried out.
  17. I found a cut wire and another that was almost cut in the wiring harness going to the circuit board.
  18. I removed the plug then made a setup with silicone tubing that attaches to an air gun and blow out all four corners every few months

  20. It looks like mine may have been corrosion on the pins of the control unit connector. Still working fine as of today.
  21. PROBLEM SOLVED...Hopefully. I got ready to delve into this earlier this morning and since I'm a firm believer in the KISS method, I disconnected the Tiptronic control unit and reconnected. Now, the manual-automatic is working as it should and the fault is gone. I'll go back and do a thorough cleaning of the pins in the connector, but I am hopeful that this was a simple fix.
  22. I believe mine was definitely the tire circumference mismatch. Doesn't have to be very much of a difference. I rotated them once they were worn pretty evenly and haven't had the problem since...knock wood
