  1. I disconnected the horn fuse (25AMP, row B, bank 3) on my 2000 C2 Convertible because my horn activates as I make hard brake or downhill brake. I know the problem is from the steering wheel (4 spokes) but don't have time to fix it at this time. Will disconnect the horn fuse affects other components that may share the same fuse? I drove it about 80 miles/day and night and did not notice any different. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Nghia :renntech:
  2. Hi Gristy. I have the same problem; the mirror cover piece is broken (passenger side). Did you fix your and where did you buy the cover piece? I looked at the dis-assembly instruction posted by Loren and found that it only shows to remove the mirror, bulbs and whole assembly but not the cover piece. Do you have any tips about just remove and replace the cover piece? Your help is greatly appreciated.
  3. Unless there are big different between 2003 and 2002 I would get option #2. This car has low mile and low price. Use $3000 to buy CPO or put in saving. I am cheap :D

  5. What year is your 996? I hope my 00 996 will last that long. Do u drive ur 996 daily or weekend only. Please share any tips keep the car last to 160K miles and still running good. Thanks.
  6. My 00 Cab had the same window problem as your about 2 months ago. It costs me $600 to replaced the plastic window. Although it does not leak but the stitch lines (dual) were not perfect and parallel. Not really happy with the work and the wife keeps give me hard time because I did not want to spend $2300 for brand new top with glass window. It looks really good but too costly.
  7. Did you find the B&M short shifter instructions or removing the rear console panel? How hard to remove the panel and do we need any special tools? It would be great if you can write an instruction for it. Thanks.
  8. Thanks dr914jr for good repair instrcution. I have the same problem with the horn on my 2000 C2. It just happen last weekend. The horn went off when I brake hard or bouncing on driver seat or tapping on the steering wheel. Is the part number you given for 2000 model?
  9. Thanks Loren. The battery came with the car when I bought it last November. However, I will check the battery at Costco today and see if they have the tube connector or battery with vent port.
  10. Dennis, Does your car leaks oil, especially at the RMS? My friend just bought a 01 C2 and it has 57K mile. We saw a little oil leakage line between the engine and transmission. We believe it comes from the RMS. Should we have it repair or keep driving the car but pay very close attention to the oil level?
  11. Thanks Loren. But my battery does not have a vent port for the vent tube. Should I get a battery from Porsche or look for the one has the vent port?
  12. I have been used the Kirkland batteries on my other cars and none of them have the vent tube. This battery vent tube is new to me.
  13. Thanks Richard. No my battery does not have a vent port. It is a typical Kirkland automobile battery.
  14. Yesterday when I checked the battery compartment of my 00 C2 I saw a tubing with an rubber elbow at the end lay under the battery and does not connect to anything  . I tracked the tubing and saw it comes from the left side (passenger side) of the car. Does any one know what is this tubing and should it be connected to something? BTW, the windshield fluid is working fine. Thanks.
  15. I forgot to ask you guys one thing regarding replacing the backup light switch on my 2000 C2. While I was removing the defective backup light switch from the transmission I heard a short bust air leaking sound as of you release the tire pressure but no oil come out. Is it normal? My friend told me that the transmission air vent cap or fitting may got plugged and it needs to be corrected. My car has 55K miles and it has new engine/clutch replaced at 48K miles by Porsche dealer in Pasadena, Ca. Should I continue to drive my car? any tips and advices are greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. Nghia Ho
  16. Had my backup light switch replaced in the weekend and it works great. Again, big thank to Dphil66 for good instruction :clapping: The old switch still work after I pushed its plunger couple times but..what the heck I am there any way and the new switch is only $17 at Porsche dealer. 2000 C2 Triple black
  17. Hi Sgordon. Can you show us how to remove the microswitch? My 00 Cab trunk light does not turn on. Thanks. Nghia
  18. Try http://www.pelicanparts.com/. Their phone number is 1-888-280-7799. They may have an answer fro your question. Good luck!
  19. Very good design Waterboy :clapping: However, I like the idea of front to back. This way you only need to use one jack in the center o the bar. Raise the car side way high enough to put two jack stands right below the jack points on the car then repeat other side. Anyway, you are still an inventor of this "bar jack" and people just took it and modify the design to fit their needs. May be you want to explore the front-to-back idea and patent your design before it is too late. Good job! Nghia 00 C2 Cab
  20. Congratulation Barry. I too bought a 2000 C2 Cab triple black. It is a beautiful car, a man dream machine. I did not have a chance to check out how fast I can handle on my car since I bought it. But get on ramp and enter freeway is not a problem. BTW, I have the user manual and my car has the Hi-Fi selection panel like your. If you can not find the manual let me know may be I can scan the pages for you. Have fun with your PORSCHE :) :) Nghia 00 Carrera C2 Cab Black 6Sp
  21. Thanks Maurice. I will try that in about a week to see if the plastic window still Ok after the top is back up. Nghia
  22. Hi all Cabriolet Porsche owners. I have a 2000 Cabriolet and would like to know i it is a good idea to keep the top down (folded) for a long time (few weeks or months). I live in SoCal and there is not much rain in Spring thru Fall. Will doing this cause damage to the plastic window? I noticed that if the top was down for a day or so when I close the top I saw some waving (un-flat) spots on the plastic window but they disappear after awhile. Your suggestion is greatly appreciated! Nghia 2000 Cabriolet C2, Triple Black, 6SPD, 44K Miles
  23. I also have a 00 Cab and have not seen this problem (yet). Well, I just have the car for about 3 months and filled up the gas tank about five times. Anyway, I would appreciated if you post the cause and repair cost of your gas tank issue. I don't get your suggestion of getting the AAA if owning a Porsche. This sounds like Porsche is a unreliable car and also sounds like an old expression FORD (found on road dead). Can you give us more specific rational of your suggestion? Thanks. Nghia
  24. Thank you very much Dphil66. Your instruction and pictures are great :clapping: I have a 00 Cab C2 and having the same problem; backing lights do not turn on in reverse. I will work on it when the rain stops (I live in Southern Ca LOL). I saw your ramps and they look like home made ones because they have low-long profile ramp. Mine are Rino brand and they have short ramp which may not fit close to my car rear wheel. Any suggestion? Thanks again!
