  1. I like that FOB-post the part # or where you found that? (I'd be interested in one for a cabrio!) Good info from both sources.
  2. Any non P-codes are Porsche codes. (P-codes are emission related and required to follow OBD 2 and (in the US) EPA regualtions) For example: alarm codes, ABS codes, PSM codes, some Tiptronic codes, cab top codes, Targa codes, airbag codes, rollover protection codes, HVAC codes, seat heating codes, seat memory codes, PCM codes, parkassist codes, headlight beam adjustment codes .... whew... I think that is most of them. There are more on the newer cars that have more lighting and electronics controllers. Cable on order ;) !
  3. Loren-you mention Porsche spec. codes-could you rattle off what those would be? I have a DashDaq now and am able to read codes on most cars (including my C4S)-are there more that I am missing (nope-I havent reset them so they would still be there ;) ) Also-if its needed, I'd def be interested in the Durametric software is there a distributer here on Renn (Amazon and google are the next best for me-but support for the forum is always a first for me). Thanks for everything so far to everyone! :renntech:
  4. I just did the same thing here in MN (the cold started to make the squeak and rattles a little louder)- I used Works Moly for the joints I could get too-and some silicone spray with a straw for the ones I couldnt (I used a towel around the area I was spraying to avoid overspray on fabric, ect). Worked perfect-been squeak free after 2 washes and 1000 miles.
  5. I run a DashDaq hooked up to my OBD port and log speed RPM Intake air temp Spark Adv MAF Coolant temp I dont have any base runs to offer (I'm in an 04 C4S)-but someone here might to use a comparo- I log everytime I get in the car-so if something does happen, I have the last drive info for diagnostics- I also set warnings for low collant temp (and high), IAT, Speed, RPM shift points, ect (blue is low, green is good, orange/Red is high). I've only had the car for 2 weeks and have 6 files so far-now I need to build an xcl sheet to compare info (I'll share that when its done).
  6. Can I ask why it's in the Panamera section?
  7. I went with Zaino on y AMG after a buddy if mine had been using it on his vette for a number of years. If you follow the directions-it works great- start with a clean car-dawn the heck out of it to get any old wax off-clay bar, base and finish polish. I have a fleck black paint on my wifes Journey and it turned out beautiful (dealer used it at the car show!) with Zaino. Takes me a fll day on a new car to start the process and get it right-and once every 4-6 mos I hit the cars again with a Z2 after a god washing (the Zaino soap is great too-I cant find another that rinses so well!) Leather cleaner worked great for me (have not had to try the repair yet) Glass polish is amazing-you'll see how many sand specks there are in your glass when your done (that could be a bad thing if you tailgate like me ;) ) Enjoy!
  8. I hope I'm not beating a dead horse (I think I am tho)- I've read through all 3 pages here-and done some searching on navteq's site-with little help. I have a MY04 996 C4S Cabrio that was missing the nav cd's when I bought the car- I've since rcvd CD's from the dealer-but I got 8 of them (4 to cover the US-the rest for S America, Canadia, ect)- I'm trying to read the orig TSB that Loren posted (thatnks for that) but I cant seem to place it- I should have a 2.0 system that uses 2 CD's-but I have 8..... So-should I have an upgraded system (and if so-is that something I should/could perform with the correct CD's or have the dealer do)? I was driving through a smaller town in MN this weekend-it didnt have any city roads listed (zoomed all the way in) and I cant get POI's to show on the screen (Loved that on my AMG for gas stations, ect). Thanks so far for all the posts-I'm up to page 134 on the 996 C4S and learning every day something new!
  9. I just bought an 04 C4S Cabrio with the hard top delete-bought a hard top from LA-just arrived last night. The car is at the dealer to have some other parts installed (longer story-new motor) but wants the top there to make sure they have the correct parts-prob is that I dont have a good way to get the top to the dealer 30 miles away- anyone done this before? List of parts or pics of your set up with the hard top parts installed? Cant believe I'm having this problem with a parts dept....dont they have a blow out of the car? Thanks in advance! M
  10. Funny this comes up-I know I'm new here-been reading for the last month- I've used Sea Foam in my last 2 cars-a C55 AMG and an Evo X-I plan on using it on my 996 C4S as well when it gets back-new motor....lifter tick ended up with a hole in the cam cover and a new engine later (supposed to arrive today for install under CPO) I should be a happier camper. I know mine is prob a fluk instance-but I'd try the SF-I've gone so far as to run a full bottle for 500 miles in the oil and change-or just half a bottle at 2k rpm in the Evo to "clean" just before a change (works great in the tank and the intake-you wont believe the carbon it burns out in the intake mani and exhaust!) GL and keep us updated!
  11. Check out a set of Corbeau 3 pt set ups-I ran a set in my mazda and Evo-they worked great for short track runs-swap out the buckle pin for the eye bolt, and the rears simply buckled into the rear latch system. http://www.corbeau.com/products/new/
