  1. CA is a nice item to have, even frame. My dealer provided one with my new car at delivery.
  2. I think the only solution is to buy the Euro rear bumper cover. I've wondered before why Eric the Bumper Plug Guy doesn't do something clever. You could enlarge the holes and install screens to claim heat dissipation! :D
  3. First :welcome: :welcome: Second, what year? Early switches are hard to find and out of production. So make sure you have a replacement before tearing out.
  4. There have been IMS failures, true. No one knows the probability or how many have happened. Been beat to death as a topic. Jake Raby has a lot of info and a solution to the problem. http://www.flat6innovations.com/
  5. Well txhokie4life, that was pretty comprehensive! Not to steal ppbon's line, but Pedro sez the front motor mounts go at 30-40k mikes. And +1 on Jake's shop in North GA!
  6. The V1 is a fine unit. I tried the multi arrow unit for awhile. But....Waaay too sensitive for my tastes. I know Mike Valentine says you can learn to distinguish falses, but I don't need the noise distraction and have learned to distinguish enuf falses with my BEL RX-65. Not trying to start a food fight. It has already been done. :)
  7. Euro rear bumper. You can have them painted as an alternative. I've wondered why some smart guy hasn't come up with the equivalent of Eric's bumper plugs.
  8. That was a nice piece of work and it shows what can be done with the current low cost of used Boxsters! :notworthy:
  9. Unsprung weight is important. Safety is more so. I don't know the standards wheel dynamics meet. If TUV then probably okay. Guess the other question is whether looks trump performance. However slight the change.
  10. You can expect to pay about $500.00 for a decent detector. Don't waste money on a cheapo. Most top of the line detectors are fine. Bells and whistles vary. Latest versions have database of cameras for speed or red lights. Get an undetectable version if you live in VA or state that outlaws detectors. Google Radar Roy for some comparison tests. And pay a lawyer next time. Might cost more, but they can usually plead down minor offenses to equipment failure or something your insurance company won't take as seriously if they notice at all.
  11. I've had many brands of tires get noisy with age. If they are newish I'd have the tire checked for internal damage (like from pot holes) or pending tread separation.
  12. Also Google LN Engineering. Charles has probably made some of the results a search will produce. And Google Bob is the Oil Guy (BITOG) if you wanna see heated brand worship or hate!
  13. +1 I have the full factory manual in the shop, but Bentley covers most things well. Good diagrams and code charts.
  14. Double check with TR. They are usually correct. And if the other guy had them on car like yours that is a good sign about offset. Rolling radius might be a problem as Dharn55 said.
  15. :welcome: :welcome: Check with another dealer. That is pretty high. You should get new keys for that. Edit. Also try search. This has been covered and there are some solutions IIRC.
  16. Welcome Trev0006! :welcome: Don't trust the owner's manual for current recommendations. As mentioned recommendations change and oils are reformulated (Mobil 1 might not be the same formulation for the same advertised viscosity as it was when the original fill was done.) The recommended oils TSB is on available to RennTech contributing members and is a good place to start. But there are plenty of good oils not on the list for several reasons. The search will cover most of the logic, but not tell you which oils is "best." The Oil Spec TSB says on 0w-40, 5W-40 or 5W-50 for cars. Different for Cayennes. ZDDP levels seem to be going down every API cycle. :thankyou: N41EF - thanks for the sites, I'm doing my annual research for my next oil change. Here is another one I just joined. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/
  17. I have no association with LNE or Charles Navarro. But here is the IMS info. Price compilation and contact info at bottom of page. http://www.lnengineering.com/ims.html
  18. :welcome: :welcome: Congratulations on being able to have such an incredible car. I'm truly :censored: jealous. You've gotta post pics!
  19. :welcome: :welcome: No experience with leased cars, but if you've read Mike Focke and know to get a good PPI you will be in good position. Make sure there are maintenance records. There are plenty of very nice cars available right now, so be patient and buy the absolute best car you can afford. And one with the options you want. IMS can be fixed/upgraded by Jake Raby, but the old 2.7 had its cylinder head studs and valve guide problems. From the 901 there were chain tensioner problems. And there were the exploding air boxes. So don't let the new possibility scare you off. Good luck and enjoy the hunt.
  20. :welcome: :welcome: Glad to have you with us and contributing already!
  21. You need to contact Jake Raby at Flat6Innovations. He answered a similar question on this or another forum. IIRC there is no one in your area, and Jake ain't lettin' no shoddy shops ruin his rep. Basically I believe it is good preventive medicine and will take my car to North GA as soon as I can afford the $3500 IMS upgrade/clutch replacement. Jake does not believe R&R of engine is worthwhile w/o doing the clutch.
