  1. I've had zero technical issues with my Porsches, (knocks on wood)... :P I'm going to hold onto the 2004 for the long haul, so my guess is that I'll be posted here more as the car gets older... I'm seriously considering leasing a Cayman S, I'm going to look at the car next week... looks like a car that would be fun to toss around the track. Rob - so what was the issue? taking my car in for tires at a local place this weekend, may get an alignment as well...
  2. had the same problem....... new bulb fixed..... try brandywine porsche, couldnt get at a local auto parts store.
  3. long shot - but was the a/c on, was it hot outside? could be condensation or water build up (was the fluid very viscous?)
  4. i would leave them, lends character. often times when painting wheels with touchup it looks more noticeable. my 0.02
  5. TP - what is exactly wrong with the .00 cap? I upgraded to the .01, but am still trying to figure out the differences, they look almost identical... Ross i will take a pic. of the 00 cap and 01 cap when i got home tonight, very interesting designe change. really??? my 00 and 01 look very similair, they both have the mesh on the inside.
  6. what is stock size in the rear? 265/35R18... i don't believe ps2s don't come in 285/30R18... thanks
  7. capt601 - if its >1 i wouldn't worry about it... if its 1, or less than 1 might be worth taking it to the dealer.
  8. TP - what is exactly wrong with the .00 cap? I upgraded to the .01, but am still trying to figure out the differences, they look almost identical... Ross
  9. I also have a 2001 996 Coupe. What are the handling advantages/disadvantages of installing 225/40/18 fronts vs 235/35/18 and 265/35/18 vs 285/30/18 rears ? FWIW It seems some tires, like Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s, only come in 265/35... not 285/30.
  10. I am planning to install OEM 18" wheels on my 01 996C2, where previously I had only used OEM 17"... According to the TSB #4440 (8/10/04) the it says "The wing seam and if necessary the rear spoiler must be reworked on vehicles up to and mincluding MY 2001 if running 285/30 tires." Does anyone know what this means?? Can I just install the wheels/tires? Thanks! Ross
  11. I am not positive, but when it is very hot outside and the car is hot I believe I have seen the needle at 1...
  12. If you want a smoother ride(its a daily driver, no track), which combo would be better: 225/40R18 and 265/35R18 or 225/40R18 and 285/30R18 I would imagine the 265/35?
  13. If you mean a light that says "service required" then it doesnt exist on a 996.
  14. What would be the reason to get 7.5" over 8", or vice versa?
  15. To remove, all you have to do is push in the blue metal tabs on the side of the radio, keys will slide out effortlessly... Ross
  16. Its essentially a new engine, if its offered I would take it. If I am correct, doesnt a new engine also come with new A/C unit and alternator as well?
  17. haha - sounds good. . . thanks a lot Tool Pants (while drinking a non-boiled glass of NYC Water!)
  18. My coolant cap ends in -00, and the coolant is a little low (on a dead-cold motor, ~.5 inch below min). Can someone please tell me the full number of the new 01 coolant cap (is it still $14.95?)? Also, is it worth adding coolant? Thanks, Ross
  19. this topic has been covered... the smell seems to be normal for 996s
  20. It can be tricky to get it out of the car... its not as smooth as one would think... Sometimes I have to jiggle my light cluster to get it out. Ross
