  1. Sorry to hear about the misfortune. Misfires can create a lot of stress on the engine parts.
  2. Looks great. Nice work! I will be adding the PCCM+ with aftermarket rear camera soon.
  3. Isn't that the bose sub? I think big torx up top and often that tab is broken. Take pics. I plan to go the behind the radio and cut the duct route to get to both flaps. Then JB black 5 min epoxy the cut. Will be stronger than before that stuff is amazing. Lots of youtube videos on the behind the radio method vs. one door access from under the cowl.
  4. The CDR23 should be plug and play with the ISO connections. You can code a section of the DME with the radio code to remind yourself the lock-out code that comes with the radio.
  5. 987 + 997 comes with the compressor and goo too. I think the 996 normally assumes your spare is fully pumped up.
  6. I've only seen the spare tire + jack + tool wrap. I've ordered a GT2/GT3 foam insert that has the compartment for the compressor, goo, first aid and emergency triangle. (plus misc tools such as tow hook)
  7. FYI it appears a valet key head ordered from the dealership will come with its own transponder pill. I will be adding it to the 996 and report results. Goal is to have two fully functional keys and a 3rd valet key.
  8. Finalized my winter prep project. Removed the rear wheels and took out the clogged "vents" Also replaced the temp white plastic with the proper OEM windage plastic piece. Added GT3 front brake scoops and also flushed the brake fluid since removed all the wheels.
  9. Probably broken microswitch on the clamshell that tells the car the clamshell is open so proceed to next step. There are a series of switches that need to do their job across the procedure. You start at one end and work towards the final switch.
  10. You can make one "good" key by swapping the pill over from the will-start-key to the will-unlock key.
  11. Others have given the feedback (via the track times) that the 996 4 pot to 6 pot swap is not worth the effort. The swap to 997 6 pot is.
  12. Directly to the spoiler rams. Wiped them down first with rubbing alcohol and cleaned the area where the rams enter the seals. They are just like the part that slides into a shock and needs conditioning and lowest friction possible.
  13. As much fun as being kicked in the head. Swapped the top surrounds and added leatherique rejuvenator to the lowers. Replacement leather from lseat.com and not an exact match as it was more textured leather than the stock. Local shop quoted me 4 hours per seat to install so I did it myself in about an hour each.
  14. Hello has anyone located a how-to with replacing the upper leather? EDIT: found one
  15. Ok well going to be taking apart my 996 sport seats for a replacement of top leather. From what I have read both the 996 and 997 use a similar element heater type. The differentiation is in the controls and complexity of the switching. I had added aftermarket heater elements to seats in the past. Going with whatever switching that comes with the aftermarket elements seems to be the way to go.
  16. Found the PN for that R splash shield and will replace since like $11. 99756152200
  17. Pretty sure using the PIWIS you can swap out an immobilizer but you need IPAS codes. Technically the process should carry over the encrypted remote fob signals and return functionality.
  18. Yeah should be fairly easy to locate the brains and as JFP said disconnect the power. Maybe just pull the fuse since who knows if someone else might want that in the future.
  19. Ok any other aftermarket besides RUF not have drone? (seems stock + GT2 do not either)
  20. Is this what the OEM GT2 996 exhaust looks like?
  21. Loren does the GT2 exhaust have any drone? I want a bit more sound but generally dislike aftermarket. (except Cargraphic in some models)
  22. Sounds like something weird with the CAN bus if not the ignition switch. Perhaps disconnect and reconnect that unit.
