  1. Why are the "working" on Caymans? Strange. They should be uder warranty and at the dealership.
  2. I would not recommend that anyone really "pushes" the car until fully warmed, as stated by Mr. Larson. I am not saying that you have to sit and idle, in fact, this is not advisable, but keep the RPM's below 4,000 until the temp gage is at normal op. temp and the gear box has loosened up, during very cold conditions (like winter driving).
  3. Flinte, the manual is very correct! Keep her under 4,200 RPM. Don't lug the engine. Exercise the gears, for example down shift to 5th for 10-15 minutes, then 3rd for 5-10 minutes, and then back upto 6th for 45 minutes, and cycle again when on a long trip. Get some long drives in. And I also changed my oil, at the dealership, at the 1,000 mile mark for added protection, long term. Tires "scrub-in" in about 200 miles. Easy on the brakes for a few hundred miles too!! Your car will love you for the above!!

  6. How long have you driven this car? When did it start to change? How are your tires and tire pressures?? Because, if you are feeling every road gap/crack/expansion joint, it could be your tires too.

  8. The Porsche dealership I go to, drains the car while it's level....for about $110. Try this route!
  9. VVortex3, I think you should just keep redlining the car, especially when cold, and it will clear-up and self correct itself in no time! :)

  11. Yes. Yes. No. THANKS, Loren! That's what I thought. I had a dealership (Westmont, IL Porsche) tell me today that they were seperate systems. It is so frustrating when the dealership tells you wrong info...or when you know more than they do!
  12. When the brake fluid is changed on the 987 and 987S (every 2 years) is the clutch fluid change at the same time? Do they share the same fluid? Or are they separate systems and reservoirs? Thanks.
  13. Jim, one thing I noticed about this practice, is that you will put a nice little dent in the leather's side bolster! The seat belt clasp hits the leather side bolster, and makes a mark. The mark comes out, but repeated practice, combined with heat, may not be a good thing long-term. Just my observation. When are you going to put your "spinners" on? :)
  14. I would not worry about it too much! JD Power is a Marketing Tool. Not much more! I think they can turn out a survey many different ways. I think the early Cayenne quality hurt Porsche a few years ago, and they are now making a nice recovery. Don't forget, Porsche is a very limited production company. Toyota, Lexis, Honda and the likes make 100,000's of cars. I think this helps them with orverall quality and key learnings. But, we are starting to see HUGE recalls from them, so let's see how this plays out.

  16. Could be rain water, but it would not be real clean either. I think it could be moisture from your AC. Maybe your drain tube is clogged or pinched and the water is leaking into the cabin vs. outside.
  17. I have 19's on my 987S. I run 31/32 front and about 35.5 in the rear. I have also nitrogen filled tires. Porsche recommends 32 front and 37 rear for my wheels.
  18. I agree. This is not a good deal. But, I bet you can get a great deal on this car for the reason listed above from the other posters. Good luck! I know a dealer selling a brand new 2006 987S with an MSRP of about $63K for about $53K. If you'd like more details, send me a PM.
  19. When we first set up the system for painting these vents, the charge is fixed based on labor and materials. These are extremely difficult parts to paint. Probably one of the toughest things we have ever faced. Because of the cavity, and our own anal-retentiveness, there are small areas that will tend to create runs or spots after they are done. We end up doing them about six times to get perfection. This involves a ton of prep, then buildup for the layering, then resanding, etc, etc. We were also mistakenly informed by our Porsche source that it was a plug-and-play deal, and only the exterior component was needed. Only after the first installation did we uncover the fact that the inner bezel trim and clips/seals are required. We supply them at our cost. Sorry if there's been any confusion on this, but these things come out so nice, but are a real pain to produce. Add 110 degree heat outside the booth, and no one is very happy these past few weeks! :( I just want to say that Eric did the vents on my Boxster 987S and did a GREAT job. The work quality and customer service was excellent. Eric was also very responsive during communications via- emails. I wish I had more stuff to paint it was so much fun!!
  20. I don't think this can be fixed. It would like like hell if it was...like a huge scare! I bet the dealership will charge about $4,500 to replace.
