How Do You Remove The Door Compartment Covers

Recommended Posts

I have received the Alu Look trim for the door handles and covers. I have already replaced the handles but was wondering how to remove the covers.

I have tried to pull out the pin that seems the only way to remove the covers but no luck. Any pics would be great in assisting my in removing the covers.

Thanks Loren, Don gave me a copy of the pages relating to this. My car though does not have the snap ring, or more to the point I couldnt find it. It looks like mine is held in place by the plastic surround of the compartment cover. I need to spread that and then pull the pin out.

I have just replaced the covers - what a PITA!!! The door handles were fine took a total of 2 minutes for both sides. The covers took me a ridiculous 1.5hrs. I actually painfully removed all screws and replaced them whilst the door covers were still on the doors. All bar 1 screw were replaced - on the rhs the last one right in the depths of the cover would not go back.

They are a PITA!!

I also did mine the screw way except that I realized that the alu look pieces had to be threaded first!! took me a looooooong time...some of those screws were in nasty places and tough to get.

Glad you did it though...really changes the look of the interior

Do any of you have pictures of how this is accomplished?

I love my 2001 Boxster S interior with metallic silver accents over the 1999 911 all black interior and want to transfer some of the Boxster interior over to the 911:

1- Side Airbag silver cover button

2- Door handles

3- Silver instrument billet

Can anyone offer assistance and photos?

Thank you.

Thanks.

That whole operation is out of my league (I'm a wuss). I watched my stereo guy do it and I went back into the waiting room after I saw my baby taken apart. I'm an ME, but stuff like that to a Porsche I own scares me. :)
