Looking for parts: Hood release handle and convertible hole plugs

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm trying to find a replacement for my hood release handle as mine is all scuffed up and two plugs for the holes on the convertible top (not sure if there are such things or what they are called).

Here's a couple of pictures of what I am talking about.

Hood release:

One of two holes that I would like plug:

Also, I am missing my lighter plug (the innards are in there, just missing the knob thing that plugs into the socket) if you know where I can buy one of those too.

Thanks for any help or guidance you can give me!

A great place to look for parts is www.pelicanparts.com.

Depending on the color of your top you want to order the Rollbar End Cap. Graphite grey = 996-555-457-00-C50

For the Cigarette Ligher put in following part number in the search field at pelican and see if it is what you are looking for: 996-652-101-00

Don't know about the hood release, but you may want to peruse the parts diagrams on Pelican:

Good luck.

Mike

From seeing this question responded to a number of times, it is my impression that the handles only come as a set from Porsche, and are quite pricey.

I found a set .... in brand new condition and including the housing .... on Ebay for $45.

There are also severay DIYs around that describe removing and painting these handles.

A very short sighted design on Porsche's part.

Oh well, you take the bad with the GREAT.

You can get a Hood Release Handle from The Los Angeles P Car Dismantler.

If you do a search for posts concerning this parts yard, you will find more foul language and pissed off Porsche owners than in any other topic.

This is the first time I've ever seen, on any forum, anyone label these guys as a "great" source.

Please remember two sides to every story. I welcome anyone who has had a problem to come to me directly to get anything resolved. We have sold millions of parts over the years and yes a small percentage have been bad. They are used and not perfect but we stand behind our product and try to make everything right. There are many people on rennlist and here that have recommended us.
