Jacking The Car Without Putting System In Jack Mode?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have jacked up my car without putting the system in jack mode (V8 turbo). After reading the manual (I know too late) I see that I had to put the system in "jack mode".

Could I have damaged something? Do I have to do something (go to the dealer to reset something?

Thanks, frank

When the car has air suspension, there is a setting called "jack mode". At least this is what the manual of my turbo says. You have the push the air suspension (when in normal level) button upwards for 5-10 seconds. Then the display will say that the car is in Jack mode. To get it back, repeat the procedure.

The jack mode is a safety item, if you jack up the car to change a wheel and some body turn the key to the contact position, it is possible that the air suspension compressor start working and the system ( the 3 other suspension elements ) will stabilise the car on a approx. horizontal position, the car can come off the jack.

I tried to enter Jack mode as per manual, hold the  switch forward  10 seconds in Normal position but It couldn't enter to jack Mode. No sigh came up to Main display. What shall I do ? My car is 2008 Porsche 957....15years old.

Does the air suspension operate normally now - to raise and lower on demand?

If not then use a Porsche specific diagnostic tool (i.e. PIWIS or Durametric) to check for fault codes.

Thank you for your kind advice. I can raise and lower the air suspension on demand. The only problem is that it won't enter Jack mode. I am considering if I can't put it Jack mode, I will raise air suspension maximum height  and jack up the car. I expect  It may not damage the air suspension system.....I don't have any other choice. In meanwhile, I will try diagnostic tool (I have Icarsoft for POR V2) as per advice.
