X50 Option

Recommended Posts

In a related topic you indicated that you checked a contributor's VIN and determined his 996TT was an X-50. My 2004 U.S. 996TT has a sticker under the front lid that indicates an X-50 option code but, I have never been able to find any other proof that the car was, in fact, an X-50. And, the car was not advertised as an X-50 when I purchased it in May of 2007 from a dealer. The VIN is WP0CB29944S675381. The printout that the dealer provided at the time of purchase did not note anything about X-50 either. Any thoughts?

Not according to the VIN report. But the option sticker on the front hood says yes.

So, I suggested he check the turbos and the muffler (X50 uses GT2 turbos and muffler).

Aren't the intercoolers on the back different too? The X50 intercoolers are really rough, the fins are more protruding, where a normal turbo intercooler is smoother.
