Type II over-revs

I read it was possible to register type II over-revs by bouncing off the rev limiter. Someone posted they had accumulated type II over-revs doing dyno pulls with no downshifts. I believe this claim because I was told by my tech I had 225-250 type II over revs on my 997S even though I had never mechanically over-revved the car. When I bought it, it was still wrapped in plastic and only a handful of people had driven it with me in the passenger seat each time. That car is long gone so I am only concerned that I will accumulate type II over-revs on my Turbo. What your thoughts?

The 6 ranges are:

Range 1: 7300-7500 RPM

Range 2: 7500-7700 RPM

Range 3: 7700-7900 RPM

Range 4: 7900-8400 RPM

Range 5: 8400-9500 RPM

Range 6: 9500-11000 RPM

You really don't need to worry about anything other than ranges 4 to 6.

Informative post Loren. Does this scale ring true for the other 9x7 cars?

Cheers

Good info, Loren. Are these also the ranges for a 987S? Thanks.

Yes, the 9x7 series use the same DME (so far).

loren, these ranges are car or rpm related?i mean does range 1 corresponds to same rpm range for e.g. a 997TT and 997Gt3?my car is 997TT tip and so there is no possibility to over rev it...i have range1,2 and 4 ignitions at range 3....How do you explain it?
