Parking Brake Microswitch Failure

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, the microswitch in my parking brake failed suddenly so now I can't put my top back up. Any way to repair it or any hacks to completely bypass it? Thanks in advance.

Matt

Matt:

As "T" suggested, definitely try pulling the parking brake handle up and down vigorously a few times. Sometimes it takes a lot more than just a few times, but it usually works and doesn't come back for a long time.

I think I remember reading a thread on PPBB started by "Pedro" where he replaced the switch without having to remove the entire console. If I run across that thread, I'll post the link here.

Regards, Maurice.

ok guys, i was experiecing the same problem about 8 months ago and i used pulling the hand break few time and that fixed the problem. but just last week same thing happened again and this time pulling the hand break did not fix the problem. so i thought for sure the microswitch has gone bad. so i followed the instruction of removing the center console and switched out the microswitch. but that did not fix the problem. my break light on the dash still not on.

i have not yet putting the center console back just in case this is something else i need to check. so please help. what is the problem and what is my next step?
