eBay PIWIS

Recommended Posts

I have been using a PIWIS clone for several months now. They work fine. Getting the updates is not real easy, but unless you are working on the latest and greatest, it will be several years before you need an upgrade.

I'm working on getting the KTS 570 which is wireless bluetooth instead of all the cables for clone. Should hear back from my Bosch diagnostics guy tomorrow (Tues. 25th) I'm lucky to be close to the Bosch Diag distribution warehouse.

The clones are on ebay :) Typically they run 6-7k and are built on IBM laptops.

I'm working on buying a KTS from Bosch that looks just like the PIWIS but does not ship with the Porsche software. It ships with Mercedes/BMW/Audi/VW on it, but no Porsche :( I believe the Porsche software can be installed on it :)

HUm.. looks a lot like a PIWIS  but it is GREEN (retina burning Bosch Green) and oh, by the way, it is about 10k less than the Porsche PIWIS :)

Thank you sir :)

I tracked down another buddy who writes diag software for Snap-On he assured me we could install the Porsche software on the Bosch unit :)

Thanks for backing it up!

I used to work for Bosch (diagnostics sales) but was always told that we couldn't get the Porsche software for our KTS machines to convert them to PIWIS. I guess that's what they told us to keep us from checking further. Anyway, it's been some time since I left the company, but I could get still get a KTS if I contacted them. When I left, the newest model was the 650. What's the model to get now if you wanted to convert it to a PIWIS? And where would you go to get the software to convert to PIWIS?

You could PM me if you don't want to reply on the forum.

Thanks!

Thank you sir smile.gif
