996 replacement battery

Recommended Posts

PepBoys has a Bosch direct replacement for about $130. However, if you go there take in your existing battery. The book cross-reference is for the wrong one. But they have a Bosch that is the same size as the OEM battery and less than half the price that the dealer will charge.

The Bosch replacement is a 94R730B. I am not sure if this is the PepBoys number of the Bosch number. I paid $139.00, got a $14 discount at the time of purchase and a $10 mail in rebate. They also have a $12 core charge, but I gave them my old battery and got this back. Hope this helps.

I swapped mine out (04 996 C4S-orig battery) this Sat with a duralast from autozone (49 series 1000amp 960 CC for MN winters ;) )-took 15 min and was only $84 after turning in my old OEM battery. Notice the car starts right up with little cranking.

Hand to finagle the bracket-the battery went past the last threaded hole for the base plate-I had to use a bolt and nut and holt the nut from the bottom with pliers-battery isnt going anywhere.
