Engine misfire after a clean ?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

First post so go easy please.

Cleaned the engine this afternoon. I used a hose on low pressure ensuring crucial parts where not made wet.

After about 10 mins the engine started misfiring. Do you think this will go away once the car has dried off?

Also whereabouts are the spark plugs and coil packs located?

Thanks for our help !

Got them, thanks guys.

With washing the engine yesterday the misfire is still there.

Do you think I should take the coil packs/plugs out and dry them off ?

If you have access to a compressor, blow some compressed air on and around the coil packs to help dry any moisture that may have ended up there.

Otherwise, take the coil packs off and dry them manually. Make sure to inspect each one carefully for any hairline cracks. If there were any hairline cracks on any of them, moisture might cause grounding of that spark and result in a misfire.

Regards, Maurice.
