Several questions please bare with me

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a Porsche Cayenne S with 58k. Drove it back 600 miles to my house. The left side headlight went out, I figured out it was the faulty connection, so I removed the Headlight tightened the mounting bracket screws and tried putting the headlight back in..but I the mounting bracket cracked so I ordered the new bracket. Went to pick it up from the dealership and on the way back Coolant Pipes exploded lol... So as you can tell not having the best of luck with the cayenne but hopefully its just these things and the rest of the journey will be pleasant.

So now the questions.

I know a reputable shop that quoted me $350 for labor on the coolant pipes.

Is there a place I can find the plastic coolant pipes? All I have been able to locate is the 600 dollar upgraded aluminum coolant pipe kit and I am kind of on a budget.

Also I am now due for the 60k maintenance so I was wondering what all is absolutely necessary.

Oil change

Cabin Filter

Spark plugs

Air filter

Drive Belt

am i missing anything else?

How important is it to change the drive belt and spark plugs.. could I maybe go another 10k without changing them?

Also Is it reccomended to change the torque converter seal with the coolant pipes?

All your help is greatly appreciated. I did use the search feature on the forum but I couldnt find all the exact information so I decided to make this thread.

Thanks again

Porsche Dealership here is filled with major *****!!! no way they would give me a discount. Also it is not under warranty :( .. Is the drive belt and timing belt the same thing on the cayennes?

Sorry, to hear that.

No, the timing is done with chain drives to the overhead cams.

The polyrib belt drives most external components (i.e. alternator, water pump, power steering, air conditioner compressor, etc.)

Hey pakimunda101!

Welcome! Hopefully you dont find yourself needing this site as much as many of us but thank God for the help here. Most of the issues you will have with your Cayenne will be things you can do on your own. Pretty much anything you need will be somewhere on the site.

Enjoy!

Hello Paki Munda

My suggestions:

Get Porsche Club membership so you can get 10% discounts on parts and labor.

Call Sunset Porsche at http://www.sunsetimports.com/ and buy parts from them. I don't think you will find it cheaper anywhere else.

Take the parts to your local trsuted Porsche repair shop and get it repaired.

The cost is estimated at around $1500 without PCA membership discount from a porsche dealer (varies from state to state) and it takes 10-12 hours of labor.

Good luck!
