Oil change with extractor - help!

I attempted the second oil change this morning on my 2013 diesel, this time using an oil extractor - just as they do it at the dealer. I inserted the extraction tube through the dipstick tube, but could only extract about 4.5 quarts. I played with it for about 45 minutes, but couldn't extract all the oil. Finally, I crawled under the car (which was not on ramps) and drained the remaining oil through the drain plug. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to get all the oil out of it using the extractor?

Difficult to impossible to do with any degree of reliability. It is also fairly common for the extractor line to get caught on one of the many sharp edged things down in the sump, mandating sump cover plate removal to extract the extractor. All around bad idea.....

These things are great if you overfill the sump. However, removing the drain plug flushes things out. I use a large cat litter tray to catch the oil. They are quite good for this as they have ample capacity and low sides.

It's a 2013 diesel. I was told the dealer extracts it from the top. If that is the case, how are they removing all 7+ quarts?

They put it up in the air and remove the drain plugs, I have never heard of a dealer using an extraction system for the reasons mentioned above......
