Noise right rear, aos?

Recommended Posts

Rrrrr hollow rubber sound with engine throttling. After engine warms up.

00 boxster s 60k miles. My guess would be emissions related not belt or engine but is disturbing since I had alternator clutch replacement problem . any ideas thanks.

If you think your AOS is failing, try removing the oil fill cap with the car idling; if the cap comes off with minor effort the AOS is OK, if it is very hard to get off, the AOS is toast.

My cap comes of easy ,only symptoms are noise, running rich a little smoking and I had O2 related code on the right that didn't come back. Could it still be the aos what else could I check?

If the AOS were going, the vacuum level in the oil sump would be so high that the cap would not easily come off.  What code(s) did you have?

I had one p11?? For the pre cat sensor on the pass side, oil leaks there from the spark plug tube and some was on the sensor I cleaned it off then it didn't come back

Sorry, but I can't work with a partial code, I need the full code to help start chasing down what is happening.

My clutch pulley was the culprit again if I have to replace the alternator and clutch what is a good source for replacement price difficulty in changing I'm afraid it won't stay tight because the shaft threads are repaired

If the alternator shaft threads are damaged, you may have to spring for an entire new unit, which can be a bit expensive.  You could use a thread locker to help hold it, but that would create additional problems down the road if you ever had to take it apart.  You can use Sunset Porsche's online system to get a decent price for a replacement unit: http://www.porschepartshub.com/
