I need to fool my car into thinking the roof is closed - so I can clos

I have a broken roof, initially the pivot arm ball joint broke but it turns out this was just a symptom of a bigger problem. Until I can get my roof repaired I need a quick fix to get my windows fully up - I live in Dubai and its 50 degrees!!

I have disconnected the cables underneath the clamshell so that every time I start the car it doesn't try and put it up fully - I have manually put this roof up.

Is there a switch or sensor somewhere that I can lock down or depress or a fuse I can remove which will ignore the roof not up check and therefore enable me to close the windows fully?

Or is there another / better solutions?

Ok, was my first posting and this may seem a dumb question - but my roof is already up and closed properly - albeit with the error - not in posit. The roof is broken and disconnected - where would there be the red clip you mention?

 

The red clip is for an entirely different purpose, so don't concern yourself about it.  If you have the roof all the way up, and latched,  I'm not sure you can easily by pass the roof position sensors, so I would focus on getting the cables fixed or if necessary, replaced.

Ok, I tinkered around and have found the solution.

I have tried to fix the roof myself a number of times with temporary success and more recently read an article about replacing the whole system. I figured that there must be a point in the motor system whereby it recognizes that the roof is in its closed position either by a limiting part on the motor or by a specific region. So I moved the motor round slowly and eventually the windows went up and the warning light on the dash went off. I only had the drivers side cable connected whilst depressing the window closed arm so I'm not sure if it's just one side where the sensor is (evidence points to this). So my roof is now manually up and my windows are fully closed.

Now I can decide to have another go at fixing or just pay the thousands of dollars to get it fixed by an expert!

At leats in the 996, the final microswitch is often in the latch assembly. There is a piece of plastic that goes onto the hook that sometimes falls off. If your roof is latched then perhaps it is in the clamshell where a microswitch is triggered at the end of the clamshell travel. That is performed by a metal "foot" coming out and pressing the switch.

 

Search my previous posts about clamshell. Hope it is similar.
