Hi everybody

I have never used a forum before and I don't know how it works exactly so I am hoping I don't break any rules here

I just bought a 2009 Carrera but the navigation is not installed.

I want to install the Navigation but I am not really sure what parts I'm missing. I took it to a Porsche dealership and they told me that I need to buy the entire PCM for 5K. I read somewhere that you only need to buy the Nav module where the disk is and the antenna but I don't know if this is true or not.

Any advice?/

Thanks in advance

So I retrofitted Nav and cd changer into my wife's 2008 997.1 C4S . This was in 2009 when the car was bought new and even still had the temporary paper plates on it. You should not need to replace the PCM. You just need a lot of parts, a lot of time, and the dealer to set coding in the car to say you now have Nav. Suncoast and @Loren were great resources to me at the time but I also had the electronic parts manual which told me pretty much everything I needed to know.

About 5/2020 SiriusXM free weekend download affected many PCM units requiring reset. Mine included. The reset fixed the continuous rebooting but left my location corrupted- locates me about 150 miles away and the compass is off 180 degrees.

SiriusXM seemed to admit to causing the problem as they had me take the car back to the dealer so that they could communicate directly with the technician. There may have been a fix. Told to wait and see if held for 48 hours. Reverted back to corrupted state by the time I drove off a few hours later.

Worst case? They tried to surreptitiously tie into my location for ad tracking. Fix would be to initialize the system. Then do updates.

Any ideas? Told to buy a new PCM for $4000 USD.  Prefer not to do that.

      Thanks.

Does anyone know where to buy a service manual for the 997.1 Carrera? I cannot find one. I have seen a 996 manual from Bentley manuals, and there are many similarities between the 996 and 997- but there are notable differences, too.

      Thanks,
      Jim

The navigation dvd drive in my 2006 997.1 C4S has failed. It will not eject the dvd. I want to remove the drive unit in order to attempt a repair or, if necessary, replace it. My problem is that I have been unable to remove the plastic piece that covers the dvd drive and audio amp.  Porsche said "it just drops down." I have pushed, pulled, and cursed at the cover but it will not budge. I hesitate to use a tool as a lever for fear of breaking the cover.
Do I need to eat more Wheaties so I can  pull harder on the cover, or am I just missing a simple solution?

The left door key switch on my 00’ 996 c4 will not lock or unlock. I took the handle and bracket out of the door frame. I was told what usually breaks is the cylinder but nothing appears to be broken. I don’t want to buy a new key so simply replacing the bracket isn’t an option. Is there a straight forward solution or do I need a specialist??

Any my feedback would be much appreciated thanks!

I am upgrading my PCK 3.0 to a Pioneer NEX 8400 and I am trying to hook up my existing Sirius XM antenna and GPS antenna There are 3 Fakra connectors on back. Blue, Black (I think this is the FM ) and yellow. Can anyone tell me what color connector goes to what? I also have another question. Is there anyway to stop the PCM error about the missing head to go away?
