Cayenne Turbo P1192 fault code

Recommended Posts

I have a 2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo with this code. I am told it is indicating "excessive slippage" internal to the torque converter. Is there somebody who can give me some advice? We are still troubleshooting.

Has the transmission been serviced recently? As Loren said, could be wrong fluid, could also be the fluid level is too low. How many Kilometers on it? Possibly the valve body. A specialist  should be able to troubleshoot the Torque converter and if it's locking up properly or intermittent.

Hi, I have been flushing the transmission, change ATF oil, new valve body, new transmission ECU and the wiering inside the transmission. Everyting is done at my Porsche dealer. I have also change the MAF and TPS. My car has run 127 000 kilometers. I have spend allot Off Money and they can't find the problem.

Exactly what Loren noted above, you probably need a new converter:

P1192 - Torque Converter Lock-Up Clutch: Mechanical Malfunction

Possible Symptoms

  • Torque Converter Lock-Up Clutch slipping

Possible Causes

  • Torque Converter Lock-Up Clutch faulty
  • Valve Body faulty
  • Internal Failure in Transmission

Possible Solutions

  • Check Torque Converter Lock-Up Clutch Slip

In the original diagnostic tree, there were three possible causes:

Possible Causes

  • Torque Converter Lock-Up Clutch faulty
  • Valve Body faulty
  • Internal Failure in Transmission

The convert was first because it was the most probable, you now need to look at the other possibles in order of priority.
