04 996 Loses Transmission at High torque

Recommended Posts

it happens on occasion, but when you put the pedal down quickly the car will lose all power.  Pull over, put in park, then drive, it works fine.  This is an automatic.  IMS has already been changed and fault codes 50/51 came up.  Any ideas?

No ideas on the fault codes.  Maybe something to do with a transmission fault causing the car to go into limp mode.  Last transmission fluid/filter service?  What happens if you put it manual mode? Does it do the same thing?

Thanks for the quick reply.  It goes in tomorrow for a fluid / flush / filter replacement.  I don't know when it was changed last because I got it at the auction and yet to receive all the paperwork.  My mechanic thought the easiest and cheapest would be to do exactly what you suggested.   Once you lose the transmission (Engine still works fine) and put it in park, you are good to go.   I'll update you after the flush and fluid replacement.

Mine is a 2001 C4 auto and as leaving the community in the morning Temp just off the peg I make a sharp turn to the left, metal to the pedal and then engine tends to over rev.  I tried turning off the PSM the next of couple of days problem solved. found no codes tranny level ok.
