Tiptronic creeping at standstill

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My 2004 996 C4S tiptronic has the annoying habit of creeping forwards when waiting in a queue or at traffic lights etc. This means i have to keep my foot on the brake pedal. On a slight incline the car does not do this. Is this an issue with the torque converter?

I would say this is entirely normal.  On a level surface, there is a tendency for all cars with an automatic transmission to creep forward due to the friction of fluid in the torque converter.  On an incline there is enough gravity pull backwards to overcome the fluid friction in the torque converter.

This is totally normal and mine does it as well. Makes life easier in bumper to bumper traffic too!

Mine does this but also feels like the car is going to launch itself.  A strong press of the brake pedal is required.
