headlight washers

I have a 2000 996 cabriolet...6 speed. The headlight washers were not working when I bought the car and decided to replace the two nozzels and the pump attached to the washer tank....still not working and the fuse is good....any input would be appreciated...by the way, the windshield washer system works fine and have tried and assume the headlight washers function when the headlights are on and you hit the windshield washer/wiper lever...

If the intermittent wipers work then likely the steering wheel stalk (switches) are working - as is the intermittent relay. The headlight washer relay could be the problem. It is in position 8 (second row from the top third relay from the left). It should have part number 996.618.113.00 on it. Unfortunately that relay (part number) is only used for the headlight washers. So, you will either have to borrow one from another car to test or buy a new one - about $71.00 -- retail (as of Jan 2006).

With the headlights on, push the washer stalk towards the front of the car for the headlight washers (rather than pulling it towards yiou as you do for the windshield washers). Be prepared for it to spray not just your headlights, but also your hood, windscreen and mirrors.

still learning how the response process works here, but thanks for all the info and this is by far the best Porsche owners source of usefull info I've found....

Loren, it's frightening how much of a BEAST you are. I may never need to go in for a service problem again.
