  1. If you guys wanted so much horsepower, why did you even buy a Porsche? You could have all the power and torque you want by going another route. It's called the Chevrolet Corvette. It's a steal if that's all you care about. Remember, Porsche has ridiculously evolved and designed little engines. It's about a bit more than pure raw power. It's the way the power integrates with the car. Look at all those ridiculous supercars that get wrecked all the time to understand why more power does not always correlate with going faster (unless you mean going out of control faster). Take a bunch of track days and you'll appreciate your car heaps more than a modest bump in HP is going to offer you. But, I can't fault you for wanting a new exhaust; I ride Ruf and the note makes driving a more pleasurable experience, but I can't say that it's a noticeable increase in anything with the exception of my credit card balance when I bought it.
  2. It is a pretty cool idea. I love the idea of lifting and jacking into place. Genius, Jerry, Genius!
  3. Right on. But to correct you, if your law firm is run by Dicky Scruggs, then that law firm is getting Billions, not millions. Just check out his fees during the tobacco class action lawsuits. The whole notion of law firms even sharing in the punitive damages of a settlement or award encourages such a twisted legal environment in our country.
  4. I used Gary's recommendation for getting the car up on jackstands in order to change my wheels this past weekend. It worked beautifully and was tremendously secure when raised. Thanks Gary for the great photos and writeup.
  5. Given the traffic in and around the city, sometimes it feels I'm getting 0 mpg because the kid ain't moving. But, generally, it seems like I'm getting around 18-20 mpg combined driving. If I just drive 60mph in 6th gear on a highway, I get north of 25mpg, but who has the patience for that (after break-in, that is).
  6. On this I have no doubt; the higher pressures are for higher mileage.
  7. Who makes your aftermarket CAI? K&N? If so, they have warned not to use them in heavy rain nor car washes.
  8. I was going to write a very lengthy post saying the same thing, but instead, now, I'll just say: DITTO! EXACTLY!
  9. I think it's a pretty well known fact that speedos typically overstate speed. However, it hadn't even occured to me that the odometer would be affected as well. I'll have this looked at in detail when next in service. I'm not saying I have a problem, but why risk it?
  10. Don't be so convinced that all gaps seem aligned on the front hood. What you're looking for is that the front trunk lid is actually seated at smidgen lower than the front bumper. Moreover, it needs to be this way all across the front seam. Then, make sure to check the flushness of the front lid against the side fenders. I had this problem with my boxster and it drove me crazy for ages until the dealer finally nailed the alignment of the bumper and the trunk lid.
  11. I changed it last year on my father's car and it was a complete and total PITA. I finally got it off, but on reinstallation, the lighter never seemed to sit as crisply. I think I might have bent something. Such a hassle. It requires force, but not too much force, if you get my drift.
  12. Don't do it. I think the look of the cup holders is awful. They small and flimsy. Stick with stock and do exactly what Capt601 suggested. As him, I also have the ultimate cupholder and it works fantastically. Can hold big and small cups, is on the floor and out of the way, and best yet, if there is a spill, it stays on the floor and doesn't get all over the dash, center console, and shifter.
  13. the only things to watch out for is that the glass rear window may be surprisingly small. It'd definitely worth comparing the measurements between stock and GaHH though I've not seen any data yet.
