Possible to retrofit factory lumbar?

Recommended Posts

On existing full power seats, can lumbar be added after delivery?

And not some aftermarket gizmo, but the actual factory controls, bladder, etc.

Thanks!

i didn't know there was an adjustble lumbar support. i have that lumbar option but it is not adjustable. it's just a firmer, more supportive insert.

Oh. Well, anybody have any tips on how I can add some type of lumbar support to my original equipment seats? - I'd like to do something since after about a half an hour, my lower back really starts to hurt. Some ideas please.??

I found a solution on the Net a couple of years ago and it's worked perfectly for well over 60K miles.

Roll up a mouse pad and slip it behind the seat insert. If you're not aware, if you grip the leather portion of the seat back (where your back rests) and pull gently forward, you'll find that this section is attached at the top and bottom only, You can then slip a rolled up mouse pad, towel, or other piece of cut-to-order foam at the correct location.

Works like a champ. (And you sure can't beat the price!).

I'm not ToolPants but...

To make this work you would need the valving (9) and compressor (3) plus the tubing etc. not to mention the electronic control. I think it can be done but it would be a lot of work.

Oh well. Thanks for your response - looks like I'll get a foam insert as suggested previously.

how do you pull the center section of the seat out? I need to look at the passenger bladder. I do not think it is working correctly..
