difference between litronics and xenons

Recommended Posts

Without a whole lot of detail teh basic difference is that in the Bi-Xenon both the high beam and low beam are Xenon.

In the Litronic system the low beam is Xenon and the high beam is Halogen with the Xenon low beam added in via a lens rotation.

hi just wondered what exact difference on litronic and xenon headlight on a 2001-2005 pcar.....

xenon is the name the actual chemical element that plays a significant part in emitting that powerful light in high intensity discharge bulbs.

litronic is just a fancy schmancy marketing term created by porsche. it's the same thing as a xenon or more accurately HID lighting systems in a lot cars these days.

the next big deal is using LED lighting for the low beam. you're already seeing these in the Lexus LS for the first time ever and I believe the V10 R8 will feature a full LED headlight system.

bi-xenon means the low and high beams are both HID lights. people use xenon, HID, litronics interchangeably. the most accurate way to refer to these systems is HID lights. or you can use what porsche calls 'em... litronics. porsche's litronics aren't even the best in the industry. the s2000 has a great HID system. but this is hair splitting.

Basically they are all the same,.

xenon litronic, hid, etc etc., its just different name with different manufactures

Are the standard headlights for a 996 halogens or regular bulbs?
Halogen is standard - Litronic (or MY02 and newer BiXenon) are optional on Carrera.
