  1. There are a couple of ways to mark the cables. To know what we are talking about look at the PDF instructions in the link above. Some folks like to mark the cable positions with tape before disconnecting them so that when you put the new shifter in you have little or no adjustment needed. Another method (for those with good eyesight) is to count the number of threads the coupler is from the end of the cable (usually 5-7 threads). The when you reattach the cables you just put them back at the same thread count.

  5. Interesting that they didn't replace the bellows tube. Those have been a problem on a few older MY99 cars (cracking and leaking). The guess labor is so high because they have to drop the oil pan (drain the oil and refill)... still doesn't seem like more than a couple hours.

As a matter of fact if I were TCing or SCing a Carrera engine I would start with the X51 engine upgrade kit. What year is the car? (i.e. 3.4 liter or 3.6 liter)
  12. Yes, 999 113 490 40 is rear main seal. Better yet it is the newest and best design.
  13. IMHO... both add some intake noise but have never been proven to add much if any HP. Nor because they don't but because no one has done good before and after dyno runs. With that said, I use the BMC and am very happy with it. I did some of the Fabspeed mods on my own (like removing the two screens) and I am have with that also. YMMV
  14. It bleeds air out of the system without letting the coolant out. Cup cars actaully run with this open all the time.

  20. As sentipede there are no differences except for color. If you are changing the calipers out this would be a good time to replace pads, vibrations dampers etc. since the procedure is pretty much the same. Here is a link to my Brake Pad DIY
  21. What model year is your car? They are slightly different with MY02 on.
  22. The longer bracket (that pushes the radiator away from the chassis) should be on the bottom. Perhaps you can see it in this image.
  23. Porsche recommends that whenever a spring type clamp is removed (anywhere on the car) to replace it with the screw type hose clamp. If it is not leaking then you are likely okay (for now). If you do develop leaks then you will want to use the screw type hose clamps to fix the leak.
