  1. Take the oil filter off - pour out the oil in it (about 0.5 quarts) - put the oil filter back on.
  2. :welcome: In the future please try our Search feature. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...st&p=118110
  3. No it is not a recall. It is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) which says this "could" be a problem on some cars and how to fix it. It would only be free if your car is under warranty or was covered by a Porsche CPO contract.
  4. I guess I believe that if the level is not going down you do not have a leak. There is a bleeder valve on the top of the tank that opens automatically to let air or other gases out - perhaps that is where you get some of the coolant smell from. Unless that valve is bad it does not let liquid out - and if it did I think you would see the coolant level go down. Bottom line... I would not change the tank until you have a proven leak.
  5. Try 8430 or 8428
  6. Try 0332 or 0330 Didn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help. Peter Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  7. Everything is changed through the OBD II port. Just different controllers on the circuit.
  8. Pardon me , please tell me what is "Quality Improvement Workshop Campaign" , my is a cpo used car ,is it still under warranty? thanks again The "Quality Improvement Workshop Campaign" was a series of fixes that were applied to early Cayenne's. Dealers were supposed to apply these updates/fixes at the next service. Depending on your VIN and your car's options there could be up to 40 Workshop Campaign fixes that should have been applied. If you have a CPO then they should have done these before they delivered the car to you. If they did not then they owe them to you.
  9. The only aftermarket (non-Porsche product) that does what you ask is the Durametric Software. http://www.durametric.com
  10. :welcome: Go to your dealer and ask them to perform TSB W501 - Rear Window Adjustment (Quality Improvement Workshop Campaign). You might want to have them check and see if other Workshop Campaigns have also been performed.
  11. i had an instance this week when there was no sound from my radio or CD player after briefly parking my p-car (in the shade). Immediately prior to my stop, everything was working as normal. But after unlocking car, and starting up, no sound! Radio was working (i.e., channel number is displayed, etc), but no sound. The car was parked for 5 minutes. Ambient air temperature approx 90-94 F in shade. Radio/CD unit is the CDR23; upgraded BOSE stereo with 6-CD changer in trunk. Following another appointment later that afternoon (this time, I closed the roof, and made sure the car locked with the double beep/flashing lights), the radio volume was back and working fine when I re-started the car about 1.5 hours later; p-car was parked in shade with air temperature down to about 70-75F I attributed the earlier sound failure to an electronics glitch possibly due to a peculiar combination of leaving the roof open, and my not properly depressing the lock button on my key. I have not been able to duplicate this yet. There is nothing next to the amplifier cooling fan. Any thoughts on what could cause this (i had heard that the CDR23 had some quirks)... Actually the amp rather the CDR-23 is a more common failure.

  13. Try 2902 or 2900
  14. I know the 997 has a sports exhaust that is vacuum controlled but I thought the GT3 sports exhaust was "always open". Sorry, I am looking at the parts list don't see any vacuum parts for a 997 GT3.

    Motor oil

How about 0W40 Mobil 1 for my Porsche 996 C4? Thank you Yes, the newer cars get synthetic oil because they are designed for them. This discussion is in the 1965-1989 911 section.
  16. Try 4602 or 4600
  17. PLEASE do not ask people to illegally copy copyrighted material for you. - This is against board rules.
  18. Do you have have the code for the new key? If so, then you should be ready to go.
  19. Membrane in the exhaust? Can you be more specific or do you have pictures?
  20. :welcome: 1. Under the dash to left of the steering wheel (assuming LHD car). 2. Those are not available as a separate item from Porsche. You might try a salvage yard. 3. Sorry, I think you would need to change out the cluster (very expensive) as Porsche sold USA and Canada specific clusters.
  21. Item 3 in your image is: 996.553.551.00.01C trim cover (black) -- US MSRP $16.09
  22. You can download the CDR-23 Owners Manual here
  23. Try 0332 or 0330
  24. On a 9x7 series car those functions are not handled by fuses and relays - they are managed by the Rear Control Unit. He will need to override the switch - or buy a fixed wing spoiler ;)
