  1. " Clean filler cap before removing " means that you must wipe the dirt off the cap to prevent dirt penetration in to the fluid reservoir. The cap is probably closed with to much force and the windings can be damaged, in the cap or on the reservoir or both.
  2. PCM 2 ( U.K. 2004 ) needs no codes, the system is linked to the VIN.
  3. It depends which connector design your car have, the older ones have 2 locking clips, 1 on each small side and the newer ones have 1 locking clip on the long side. You have to find this out first, the first one on the site is for the 2 clips version
  4. Engines, transmissions and other expensive parts have a different arrangement, more ordinary parts as RMS, wheel bearings, etc. are under this rule. MAF sensors are for example a classic point for discussions, which in most situations are solved.
  5. Most common valve block issue is rough downshifting from 3 to 2 gear.
  6. I don't have the exactly part # in my mind, but it is ESSO and the color is goldish, 4 liter is too little to do the oil change.
  7. It is normal that a new litronic lamp have a different color than one with, let say 1000 working hours. You can change the older one to have the same color or you have to live with the difference in color, its up to you. The life time is approx. 3.000 hours.
  8. Halogen bulbs have no balast, only HID lamps got it.
  9. The Porsche telephone is not necessary for traffic info, just the up date.
  10. The switch is build in the lock/latch in front of the trunk. The switch is available separately and can be replaced, the lock/latch is mounted with 2 bolts behind the trim.
  11. For European cars: on page 4 - # 50 ( remarks ) of the homologous letter: * ZU NO.32: WAHLW. 5 MM DISTANZSCHEIBE AUSSER B. Perhaps you Americans don't have this letter, it comes with the car in Europe.
  12. Maybe not instantly, perchance in the nearly future.
  13. With the ignition on push twice and hold the button to lower the spoiler, if the spoiler doesnt work change the up relay with the down relay, the spoiler stays down if the relay is faulty.
  14. You can wreck the clutch, the rear and bottom of the car get full of oil and dirt and your wife get angry because of the garage floor. :o
  15. RMS can stop leaking after stand still for a few days ( leak above oil level ) intermediate shaft seal leak in contrary stays leaking ( leak under oil level ) In your case, i think, that the RMS is the culprit.
  16. A new set ( spring + piston ) can give a slight advantage in oil pressure for engines with high mileage, pure theoretically spoken at least. I wouldn't do it CJ.
  17. Do you have fault codes? Faulty MAF sensors on turbo's are rare.
  18. Why should you change the oil pressure piston in a 986 ? It was only a noise problem in the 05 and 06 987, which M 96 engine is slightly different in detail than the 986 M 96.> MY 07 use the M 97 engine.
  19. For the seat memory: do the same as before, lock the car - wait 10 minutes - unlock the car. A good chance that it will work this way.
  20. ssflai Your dealer is right " there is no warranty on warranty " but this is only for the parts ( same issue within 24 months ), for the labour on the contrary he have to take contact with the Porsche importer. I'm sure that even for the part an arrangement can be discussed because the special situation ( 4.000 km. ) and a well known history of the car. The only negative point is the age of the car, anyway, the result of the operation looks badly. I don't no what the Canadian low represent, but over here is a PROFESSIONAL car seller required to give 12 months warranty on the car purchased by a NON professional. I hope for you that this indistinctness will be cleared in a short time.
  21. The location is the same with or without CD reader, behind the separate cover in the trim, on the right side in the cargo area.
  22. 987 & 987 S are the same: front 298 x 24 mm rear 299 x 20 mm ( from the book )
  23. Let some one with experience check for traces and to do measurements, dealer or body shop.
  24. Do you mean that the distance between the left rear wheel center and the left front wheel center is different than the right side? This is not adjustable, big chance that the car have got an accident. What you can do is take a look for bended control arms, struts or sub frame transposition on the front or rear and do some measurements. The last option is to put the car without the suspension on a bench to correct the chassis points.
  25. The amp. is located behind the right rear trim above the CD reader.
