  1. You meant 991, a zero is not allowed between the first and last number, this is reserved for Peugeot through a patent. This has been so since the start of production 911 series, the series was meant to be 901 but had to be changed in 911 because of complaints from¨Peugeot. So far a little history of the brand Porsche.

  3. 997 / 987 use no longer the 996 / 986 classic ignition switch design with an electrical / mechanical switch on the rear end of the assy. It has become an electronic unit, this does not mean that the switch has no problems, but you can test / check the switch assy. with a PIWIS diagnostic tool.
  4. The control box has come back in pre delivery mode, you need a PIWIS Porsche diagnostic tool to normalize the programming. Let them run a " New Car Handover " and everything is OK.
  5. 997 are managed by a control box (front), these would cause sometimes problems. Check the connectors visual and use a diagnostic / test tool to check the control box.
  6. I do not know what you've loosened to replace the coolant tank, but the codes refer to cylinder. 4-5 en 6 which are on the opposite ( right ) side of the engine. Is it possible that you chose the wrong row of cylinders for inspection?
  7. The brake light switch on Tiptronic cars has also an immobilizer function (double contact switch), maybe is the resistance between the contact points too big (burned or corroded) or a partial broken wiring. A brake light switch is a cheap part.
  8. The error is in the instrument cluster itself, or replace or let the cluster repaired in a specialised shop.
  9. I would remove the large connector and put, for a sort time power and ground by a spare battery, directly to the compressor connector. If the compressor start running you're already sure at that point. (always use test wiring's with a fuse between) Ask Loren for a electric diagram, if available, cause there are control box, relays, fuses and connectors in between the system.
  10. If all of the suspension related mechanical parts, sensors, pneumatic parts, connectors and wiring's are visually in good condition, then only a PIWIS diagnostic can help.
  11. "bigsuzuki", there is indeed only one air suspension compressor present, i think "mudman" means the air distribution valves housing.
  12. In case of a wide diversity of oil spots over the power train it is advisable to have cleaned everything thoroughly, drive the car for a few days and let him inspect. This makes it easier to detect the leak(s).
  13. I have heard nothing special, at least no more or less than 996. :)
  14. It should still be a triple square bolt on the cylinder head side, the previous owner has probably destroyed the bolt with presumption it was a Torkx, this happens a lot.
  15. If you cant find center bolts in the flange(s) on both or one side of the gearbox, than they pull simply out. In that case they are hold by a steel snap ring lock system inside the diff. Hope it helps.
  16. Perhaps the mechanisms outside the gearbox, where the cables are connected, is bend by a obstacle or so. The mechanisms can touch each other or the gearbox case under some conditions.
  17. If it happened every morning after the car has made a longer drive ( approx. 10 Km. ) it could be that the AOS is defective. If the car is only moved over short distances ( in and out of the garage or till the end of the street ) it is a rather normal behaviour.

  19. Remove the injectors and let them test in a Bosch center is a good option.
  20. My response was directed to member "sliderr" because he only has code P1123 on one cylinder bank, what is clearly a different problem. Vapour lock is very rare under normal driving/temp. conditions, the problem will sit elsewhere i think.
  21. @ sliderr, code P1123: Oxygen sensing adaption area1 (cyl. 1-3) Lean Threshold means that cyl. bank 1 run too Rich ! A leaking or bad injector can cause this issue.
  22. Yes, the arrow is pointed to the clutch slave cylinder bleeder valve. A short version of a normal wrench is recommended and make it a lot easier.
  23. Porsche does not sell the dust seals separately, perhaps some more specialized shops ?
  24. Only the left brake light is directly operated by the switch, the center and right brake light are operated via a control box. The use of a diagnostic tool is recommended to detect the error.
  25. As Loren says, but both lights will go on when one of the switches are closed, in other words when the trunk lid is open, the light in the engine room will also be activated and vice versa. The switches are located inside the locking mechanism front and rear.
