    Porsche use not the Audi system, the maintenance include only oil change at the indicated interval (depending MY see manual), there is no filter to replace.

    Only the intake manifold gasket is needed ( V8/V8T) after starter replacement. If the water tubes above and besides the starter motor are still in plastic, it's recommended to change them with the light alloy updated version due cracked tubes and water leaks.

    997 MY05> use a new water pump with greater flow, the propeller is 3 mm. greater in diameter. The seal is slightly adapted to the new propeller, it can help if the pump will fit.

    Remove the side mirror and door trim, apply some silicone spray inside the triangular part of the seal (mirror) and around the window opening for easy and proper fitment without force. The window can stay in place.

    The wheel lock key have a 3 digit code starting with a 0, example 011, 004 etc. The 8 digit code is hopelessly complicated to order a new one.

    I could be wrong, but in hot conditions with the air condition on and the system in good shape, the fans should be run all of the time, fans kicking on and off is out of the question in this 996 case.

    The leak looks like coolant from the left radiator, remove the front bumper to take a look and replace the radiator if necessary. It is not the plug treat but rather the allen key hole what's easily to destroy. There is a lot of info on the board for the DIY.

    I don't know if Prestone coolant is compatible with Porsche coolant, but mixing should be avoided in any case.

    One of the reasons "check engine" light will come on, you can read out the fault code with a diagnostic tool, which tell you "Misfires on cyl. 1 or 2 or 3 or ...... or random.

    A battery maintainer (as showed in the pics.) may during long periods attached to the car via the cigarette lighter, without problems.

    They are known to fail with strange behavioural effect.

    Have you already checked the ignition and/or light switch ?

    They "pop" off, you can use two flat screwdrivers, a door trim clip disposer fork, or similar tool.

    The phone antenna/connector/wiring perhaps. The antenna is an integrated element in the "Diversity antenna's" and should be located under the rear roof spoiler cover. You can find the exact cause by using the PIWIS diagnostic tool.

    All 4 sensors faulty at the same time is very uncommon, i would suspect the MAF.

    987 and 987S shares the same M96 engine design, it makes no difference in that case.

    997/987 headlights are part the front control box comfort system via CAN. Check the headlight connector for proper fitting to start with, if no avail, let the system check with a PIWIS diagnostic tool.

    The characters A.T. (AUS TAUSCH = Exchange ) are part of the engine number.

    Faulty lifters (MY04) do not make noise if the lifter is blocked in the full lift possition.

    Yes they do, one pressure line and one return line.

    My wife's 2006 987 (Europe) airbags are not smarter than the previous Boxsters, the only difference is the possibility to order or install a passenger airbag deactivation lock with the ignition key MY2005> instead of the earlier bar <MY2004 986. A smart aibag has a pressure (weight) sensor build in the seat cushion.

    What do you think about a bad valve lifter? Do or let do a cylinder leak test to check it out.

    Looks like Pentosin power steering fluid leak to me.

    The AOS bellows is visible and replaceable with the AOS in place, manual transmission is easier accessible than Tiptronic.

    The light should come on when opening each door, check this first. If the light does not come on, check the light unit and the wiring.
