  1. I am assuming the condensation is on the outside of the window, not the inside (if it is the inside then please let us know). Try making sure the vent is not aiming directly at the window because what will happen is the vent will make the window so cold that outside humidity will attach/condense outside of the window. Same principle as a cold coke can on a hot humid day outside - it will start to get condensation on the outside.
  2. Sounds like your dealer is just throwing up their arms and giving up - for them to save that is "normal" is not true...
  3. Don't worry about your trip to Italy - you'll be fine. This problem is a very common one, and it doesn't sound like any damage would have been done to your engine. Have fun and enjoy your Boxtser! B)
  4. I just had the same problem. When I had the new resevoir put in, they also replaced the cap with the new one. It sounds like you have the cracked coolant tank to me - seems pretty typical after 5-10 years. As for you worrying about the oil level dropping one bar, I wouldn't worry about that either. One bar to me means nothing. Now, if you were having to top off the oil (3 or 4 bars down) every couple days or weeks, I'd be worried - but doesn't sound like that in this case. Have them pull the plastic resevoir out and I bet there is a crack in it... Edit to add: Also, your temperature looks perfect to me.
  5. Mine is also exactly 5 mph off (speedometer shows I am going 5 faster than I really am). Analog and Digital are both in synch, tires are correct. This seems to be a very common issue.
  6. Ah, just saw you are from Denmark, Classic is probably not there, but surely similar shops.
  7. Morten, I just had mine redone by Classic Soft Trim (check your area, they are all over the U.S.) - they did it, labor and all, for $690. And it looks BETTER than it did originally in my opinion.
  8. Amazingly unprofessional. I don't care if there was a legitimate misnderstanding or screwup - those emails he sent you are about as unprofessional and childish as it gets. I will remember never to use that place...
  9. Hey William, welcome to the board. One point I wanted to make - when you read the problems on this board you have to understand that people out there not having problems or questions, the average person, does not seek out message boards to get others advice and vent about problems they are having. I guess simply put, you will never see the people without engine failures coming to a place like this to say that they are not having engine failures...
  10. So are you saying the additional muffler support is what the final problem ended up being with the vibration?

  12. Had to pull the receipt after seeing your reply - was $709, but that was with a "20% discount"... Please review and tell me if I got royally screwed:
  13. I agree - probably coolant tank. I just had to have mine replaced due to crack (in an '01). The labor on it killed me. Total bill was around $800+.
  14. Sorry guys the car has been at Porsche and I actually go it back today! I had the car towed to the Porsche dealer here for a second opinion. They agreed that it needed a new engine. They felt it had to do with the car overheating causing the lining around the cylinder to distort?? I am not sure if I am saying this correctly. It wasn't as if I drove the car for an hour with no coolant it was a period of 10 minutes but I guess at 126,000 miles maybe it was time. The strange thing is that the engine still ran at the dealership but yet they said I needed a new one. They said it could not hold the pressure. After much deliberation with a friend of mine who has a 1995 928 I decided on the new engine from Porsche. (My friend has been happy at the local dealer) They gave me a 2 year unlimited mileage factory warranty. I also had the clutch replaced and new Michelin tires put on with an alignment. I also had the coolant system replaced because of the giant hole. I decided on this as I really wanted to keep this car. In retrospect I should have brought the car there to begin with as all they do are Porsche's. The other place had BMW's Audi's, Rolls. I don't see how one mechanic can keep up with all these different vehicles no matter how great he is. This would be difficult for anyone. I actually picked the car up today (it had been with them for 2 weeks) and drove it home..actually around for several hours and it drives great. I know others may not agree if this was worth it or not. Either way If I sold it as a parts car I would still want another one. Thanks for your help. Bradley 2000 arctic silver BoxsterS 6 Speed, Black Interior (not 2001) Thanks for the update Bradley - can you tell us what the engine replacement ran you? I am curious what they are getting now.
  15. sboxter, what was the final result on this? Don't leave us hanging!
  16. Cats hate anything citrus - find a top cleaner that has citrus in it. Orange peels/lemon peels work as well.
  17. I would be happy to, because I am at a loss of what to do on this as well after reading the posts here and other areas as well. I am being told my dual mass flywheel is out of balance and it will cost $950 + labor to fix... Not sure if it is worth it if it may not fix the problem as someone has said here. If I rev the engine in neutral, I feel a slight vibration between 3000 and 3200 RPMS. If I am accelerating I feel it breifly in the same range too. The BIG problem is when I am decelerating. If I am, for example, coming down from 5000 RPMS, I will hit 3,200 - 3000 range and it is almost random - sometimes absolutely nothing, sometimes it is the feel of a semi truck using his engine to break (same sound almost). It goes away by the time I hit 2900ish RPMS. My best description is a truck engine break. Do you have any input or suggestions on this? They have check my engine moutns and say they are fine. They told me changing my spark plugs would fix it) paid them $760 for the 60,000 mile service 10000 miles early to have them changed thinking it would fix it - it didn't. I am at a loss. I know my clutch needs to be replaced anyway, but to add $950 in parts to change the flywheel without knowing it will fix this bothers me... My estimate from the dealer is $2980 for a new clutch, RMS (easy since they are in there already) and a new flywheel.
  18. I personally wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole, but that's me.
  19. Any slippage on the clutch in the higher gears?
  20. What happened was I was driving near my home and started dumping coolant. White steam or smoke appeared coming out of the side vents. The temp gauge started to climb but the light never blinked. I drove home immediately, maybe 10 minutes. I added coolant later and as I was adding it it was coming out under the center of the car. I had it towed to my mechanic who thought it was the water pump and replaced it but said the system could not hold pressure. I guess he explained that it blew a hole while he was working on it, if that makes sense. Thanks, Brad I would get it towed to an authorized Porsche dealership and get a second opinion... Something seems wrong here.
  21. Yeah the dealer quoted me $920 on the flywheel (I get 20% off, but still will be around $700)... Unreal that a flywheel could cost that much :(
  22. Not anymore, but when I unpacked it it was... All oem Fast shipping also. Awesome. Thanks Bob - much appreciate the info.
