  1. Thanks Loren. I'll look at the PDF later tonight. Is this the one for the turn signal not cancelling on it's own anymore? I quickly looked at the picks and didn't see the steering wheel removal instructions. Thanks again!
  2. I have the same issue with the turn signal now not cancelling ('98 Boxster). The link to the instructions on the prior postings seems to be dead. Can anyone repost instructions on getting to this module and what to look for if needing replacement. Mine just feels like the spring went "off track". Thanks in advance.
  3. I see this post is a few years old. I can't seem to open the guide to check out what happened to my turn signal cancellations. Can anyone repost of email the instructions on replacing this? I have a '98. Thanks in advance and if you're local to the Bay Area, I'll happily accept help :) nsoudah@aol.com
  4. Had to go buy a longer T30 bit but fix took 20 minutes... easy fix for anyone to do. Thanks again for the advice and guidance!
  5. Thanks again. I may just get it from Amazon as it's $71 with free shipping. I don't want to try the silicone route and have to do it multiple times as some have report. I'll report back after the repair.
  6. Thank you for the quick reply. I saw the screws after I sent the post but better to be sure. So unplug the (-) on the battery, then place the key in the ignition to unlock the steering and remove these screws. Found the bracket number but anyone have a contact at Sunset (or the site) to order from. I saw a price earlier in the thread that mentioned $45. The lowest I see online is about $71. Thanks again :)
  7. Same random horn issue on my '98... getting worse fast... Like another member wrote last year, I have read through this thread a few times, still unsure how to start removing the airbag. I understand the whole doesn't have to come off, but where do I find the initial screws to remove the airbag... after disconnecting the battery ;). Thanks!
  8. What was your error code? I replaced my MAF sensor and still trying to get rid of my CE light. All the valves look ok so I thought it could be the same issue... Thanks, Nader
  9. Thanks for brainstorming the grinding noie issue. I guess I'll just deal with it and hope it doesn't get worse. I'm sure the dealer would just suggest to replace everything. Not sure how to trouble shoot the starter but I'll check around... -Nader
  10. I just followed your instructions, waited for the counter and turned the key quickly... unfortunately, it screeched :cursing: . After an hour, I tried again, no noise, smooth start. I'll keep trying this process... -Nader
  11. Yes, its a loud noise after the start-up. Not sure if its only after a long period of stand still; I'll have to keep that in mind. Its an awkward noise to be "normal", but then again it is a Porsche. For some reason, I keep thinking its the starter beginning to go bad... -Nader
  12. I picked up a used pass. visor on Ebay for $65; dealer was about $138.... rip! Good luck, Nader
  13. Alan, I actually have the same problem on my '98. Replaced the MAF and both codes came back, 1-3 & 4-6 cylinders. I was also going to start checking all the hoses so please keep your progress posted so we can narrow down this issue. Thanks, Nader
  14. Has anyone had this noise checked out? I need to add my '98 to this list. The noise is occasional and brief; loud grinding noise. It sounds as if the starter is going out. Has anyone replaced the solonoid, or got this fixed? Thanks, Nader
  15. I have a '98 with the same codes; just replaced the MAF and the CE light is back. From the diagram above, what is the most likely problem?? Thanks, Nader
  16. Gilbert, I got your email and responded. These are the same codes I had and I replaced the MAF sensor. Unfortunately, my light just came back on. Let everyone know what the dealer estimated and told you; I'm sure you'll get some useful feedback. Anyone, If the MAF is not the issue, what else would cause these codes? Thanks, Nader
  17. Nat is resetting my CE light later today. ToolPants, if I have the same codes, any idea what else it could be besides the MAF? Thanks, Nader
  18. Bad news... the CE light just came back on! Either it wasn't the MAF or ... who knows. Nat, looks like I need to take you up on that offer to read the new code. If it wasn't the MAF, I guess I know have 2. -Nader
  19. Doug, Where did you buy the oil separator and vent tube? $? I believe I have the same problem in my '98, but it only smokes on every 5th or 6th start-up. Ususally its only one big balloon of white smoke. Is this what you experienced? Thanks, Nader
  20. I unplugged the battery, its been a few days and no CE light. I'll keep my fingers crossed... The car seems to be idling a bit lower and a little quieter. TP, to answer your question about buying two for $159; they barely shipped my one censor for that price. They tried to raise the price on me while I already had a receipt. Nat, thanks for the offer to use your reader. Well, on to the next project... the starter is grinding :( Nader
  21. Ok, new MAF arrived this afternoon and it is now installed. It is exactly the same as the stock one I pulled out  The car sems to be running fine. The picture of both sensors is attached; new one on top... So do I need to unplug the battery and reset the CEL, or shall I just drive and let it cycle through??? Thanks for everyone's help! -Nader
  22. I thought I read a post that said to clean it with carb cleaner... ooops! I did and apparently that is the wrong stuff to use. You need to use electronics cleaner. New sensor due to arrive on tomorrow... Nader
  23. Oh, one last thing... the new MAF part number from the Parts Bin is a Bosch: B3130-70627. The old part number at $159 was B3130-116456. I'll keep you all posted on the replacement when it arrives... -Nader B)
  24. Alright, finally an update on the MAF from "The Parts Bin" and their website, www.carpartsteam.com. I just got off the phone with the rep and I was about to get hostile. Apparently, the sensor has come in.... BUT, there is a "new part #". And, oh by the way, a new price of $284. Its the same sensor but with a new part number. As Tool Pants wrote in an earlier post, they are wizening up. Of course, I told the rep this is unacceptable since I had a receipt for $159 and its still on their site at $159. After waiting on hold for 12 minutes for the "supervisor", the rep came back on the phone and said they would honor the $159 price :). Its shipping today, ground, so I'll keep you posted as to how it works. The cleaning did not work; late came back 2 days later. -Nader
  25. Thanks TP, may go with that OSH idea. Since the new sensor didn't show up, I went ahead and cleaned my existing one with carb cleaner and installed the new filter... car is reset so we'll see if the CE light comes back. Will keep you all posted on the new sensor.
