  1. If you have over 100K and haven't replaced the AOS then the chances are high that yours is failing. If the oil cap is difficult to remove while the engine is running then, that is systom as well. Here is a link to a simple way to test. Also you can read Mike Foucke's site here too. http://sites.google.com/site/mikefocke2/airoilseparatorreplacement Pedro's Garage is also a good source. http://www.pedrosgarage.com/Site_3/Replace_the_Air_Oil_Separator.html Good luck and keep us posted.
  2. To repair do you think you would need to bake the light to get inside or can you repair from the rear? Anyone ever done this repair to a litronic headlamp?
  3. I found a set of litronic headlights I am thinking of buying that work, except the passenger's center eye has popped it's track. Has anyone ever repaired this? Thanks in advance!
  4. I would consider getting your oil tested every oil change from some place reliable like Blackstone Labs.
  5. Check out Pelican Parts for copper adaptors. I installed the center radiator a while back and just used worm screw hose clamps to tighten over hoses and pipes, even though they didn't match. No problems.
  6. Perhaps you can purchase a MY02 Horse shoe with cup holders from some place like Okalohoma Foreign.
  7. A lot of times problems with the audio system like fade and balance actually is an ignition switch problem. Let us know what you find.
  8. The 6 channel AMP has three channels as you suggest. Front (dash), doors and rears. The crossover is in the AMP and you cannot only power the LF door speaker to my knowledge.
  9. There are two wires on the black Avic harness that plugs into the back of your new Pioneer radio, the red is for "ACC" or switched power and the yellow is for "Battery" or constant power. I'm not sure if you have the adapter plug for your Porsche A plug (also black) or if you cut off the black A plug, either way pin #4 or thick red/black wire from Porsche Black "A" plug goes to "Battery" and pin #7 or orange wire from Porsche Black "A" plug goes to "ACC" or switched power. Once turned on the radio will stay on until key is removed from ignition.
  10. What a difference! I really have to try this but I'm not yet comfortable. Can you please be a bit more specific about "plastic & taping off the passenger compartment"? Tks Chris I never turn my hose on hard enough to cause unwanting splashing. Here are some photos from one I did last week. The photos are in different stages. The first is the dirty engine, the second is treating the engine and compartment with cleaner and the last is the compartment after hosing it off with low pressure.
  11. What a clean motor! Do you first protect electrical part (ie alternator)? If so which one and how? Tks Chris No special precautions needed. Just spray and rinse.
  12. Best way is to take a spray bottle and mix with half "Simple Green" concentrate and half water and liberally spray the engine compartment with mixture. Rinse with water and repeat. Tough spots can be wiped downed with with a disposible rag after engine has been sprayed and has been soaking in the Simple Green mixture.. Don't pressure wash and don't use flames. Works better than Gunk (IMHO) and environmently friendly. Works great.
  13. At 71K I would also do the following: Replace clutch replace RMS replace IMS with LN engineering replacement While the tranny was out I would further: check AOS and J tube Oil filler tubes drain/replace tranny fluid, Bleed brakes and clutch. These are things that are time consuming or expensive when done individually but when done together can be less than $500 in parts (plus $500 for LN IMS Bearing). If you haven't done the 60K maintenance you can do it as well: spark plugs, oil, serpintine belt, and filters
  14. +1 for faulty ignition switch. You can always remove wheel and check the horn's ground.
  15. You will also need to swap out the fuse by removing the 7.5 amp fuse for both headlights and replace with 15 amp ones.
  16. Two (2) items come to mind: 1. Check your sensor on the latch for the top and; 2. Check your ignition switch.
  17. I think you can do one or the other but not both.
  18. There is also Alpine Auto, DAS and United Road. I haven't had any personal experience, I just have seen them a lot on eBay.
  19. OklahomaForeign is also a reputable salvage parts vendor.
  20. Heat up the bolt with a torch and then apply an ice cube. The change in temperature causes the bolt to reduce in size and allow extraction. I also had a similar issue with a transmission bell housing bolt and ended up cutting the head off and then after the bell housing was remove was able to extract the bolt.
