  1. sorry 1999 C4. Yes, it's supposed to be clipped on, but it must have been partially broken in a previous accident. I used some PB weld and it's on like donkey kong! lol. Sorry to post a meaningless question, but I figured someone might have had this happen and had some good feedback on a better product to use. But it seems that PB weld is holding up nicely.
  2. Silver, help me out. How are you flushing your system? I've never messed with this before. I poured a shot glass or so in the resourvoir yesterday and this morning the same noise was there. I checked the level today when the car was cold and it only registered at that "cold" tab on the bottom of the stick. the manual I think says that the level should be "below" the cold tab or in that area. So i'm not sure i'm reading it right. But def. let me know how you are flushing your system. Danke!
  3. Stupid question..but anyone have a good product for glueing a bumperette back onto your body? Mine broke lose somehow...it was originally glued on, mst have been the result of an accident on that side years before I bought it.
  4. well, let us know what you find out. It's cold and rainy where i'm at for the extended forecast so i won't be able to take a look for a while. Plus I've got so much work to do on getting my 83 westy road ready. Def. don't want to take it into the shop without knowing what were looking at. Keep us posted! bmohr
  5. encountered a simliar issue this morning. It's gotten colder over the past few days. Here a strange noise turning right. But only for a small portion of the turn radius..just the beginning of the turn.
  6. Thanks toolpants. Yes, the gold cap is the one I've been using. Can't find it anywhere. Thanks for the heads up White987s, i know about the approved oil lists, just had to pick a side of the oil war and 1999porsche911 spelled things out well and I took his oil advice on using the 15w 50 is all. Thanks again.
  7. okay, i was fairly certain 1999porsche911 posted a 15w 50 oil for moderate climates is all. I have used this oil for the past year and have been happy with the results, although I'm planning on switching over to 5w50 soon for winter. Was trying to pick up a few bottles of the 15 50 because I already had 5 or 6 of them and wanted a complete oil fill stash for this coming spring/summer. Does this strategy make sense? I'm in Maryland which gets hot in summer and cold in winter, just not NE style cold:)
  8. Anyone having trouble finding 15 50? I've looked for it in 3 different shops yesterday and came up with nothing. Anyone heard of anything on this oil?
  9. I must be one of the lucky ones. I've had my K N air filter for over a year 15k miles and not a issue except better tone and throttle response.
  10. am i reading this right? Why is the 3.4 SO much more expensive than the 3.6?
  11. holy crap. Glad you made it through that one! Sorry your pal is gone. But the fun starts when you get the juices flowing while searching for another one!
  12. I have a 1999 C4 with 100k miles and the only things that broke I could fix myself, give or take a part vs. time here or there. Anyway, I would get the powerplant protection. That is the most dire issue. Just my 2 cents.
  13. LOLOL! I appreciate the posts:) And I feel LUCKY:)
  14. Anyone know how serious this is? I know I need to get it fixed, but is it drivable until I can get it in my shop? TIA bmohr
  15. You're warm start issues can be a failing starter motor...which won't throw any codes. bmohr
  16. gaspasser19, I would def. go to Gennady at GT Performance in Edgewood. He is the best around the area, both in expertise and pricing. He is a PCA club member and prof. racer, so he knows his Pcars. He gives discounts to PCA members as well. Good luck! http://www.gtperformanceinc.com/ Bmohr
  17. I'm sure others have a spot on diagnostic, but If you replaced the air/electric changeover values and your fan runs properly then it probably is a leak somewhere in your secondary air intake system. I just did this service 3 months ago and it fixed those same faults. Also, when my codes did pop, they did so shortly after start-up and driving(maybe 2-5 minutes) not 45. Double checking all components for leaks might be a good preliminary start. 1999 C4 @96K miles.
  18. MASHAW in CA has nice pieces as well. Might want to check them out (Mike is the owner). I got a turbo front bumper and side skirts from them and very happy with look and fit. bmohr
  19. ok..i just had the same issue....driving and a flashing temp gauge...but the temp was fine. Now, i just did some repairs to my car and some coolant leaked out so I replaced with some watered down porsche coolant given to me by my indy..but it really did seem extra watered down..anyway, can someone show me where the engine compartment temp sensor is located? I'll start there and then work my way to seeing if I have air in my tank, and or if there is a low level of coolant or a "light" mixture. TIA Bmohr
  20. I'm very interested to hear the feedback for this post as well. I have the same issue. Other than reverse, my gears are solid. Also, had the clutch replaced 25k miles ago - 1999 C4 bmohr
  21. yeah..i followed all the directions and it went well. Just took longer. But now I know how things work. getting the alternator back in place required a longer screwdriver jacked under the alterntor on the right side and then pressure plus WD40 on the back bushing to get it in place. Finally I can make serveral stops without having to wait for the engine to cool down before I cranked it up again! lol bmohr
  22. great post. I just did this 4th of july weekend...all weekend! lol. i broke the exact same part. Did the same temp fix using one side of the broken double end nipple and a hose clamp till i pick up the new part afterwork today. I appreciated reading your post as I might also need to tackle the oil filler tube in the near future. Here's to Pcars and their brittle black plastic parts! lol bmohr
  23. Sorry to re-post Loren..but the codes 6978 and 6980 did not work. Radio is unlocked now after driving to work. Any other possible codes to try? TIA 1999 C4 - Brian Mohr VIN WPOAA2997XS624228 Becker 1 4462 W5006410 30/98 never mind....i went up a few digits and found the right one! Thanks for the help! brian
